Moonlight Sonata by Mozart:
The Aquarium by Jacques Pesi:
Cello Suite 1 by Bach

boo hoo? I'm sorry I made you cry.... It was just an observation
I'm sorry but it's simply not classical music symphony music might be the most appropriate way to classify it, but classical music refers to a very specific time period for us educated folks

Dude, its classical. Symphony music is different than all of those actually. So educated you are not. The type of music they are is listed. I just told you what they were as well. If you dont want to call them classical, you cant call them symphony music either. Educated pshhhhhh. You dont need to come in here and start arguements man.

I'd call it a far more appropriate categorization than classical.
All of the pieces you picked were performed on piano, but they were explicitly written to be played by a full symphony or chamber ensemble. I'm not picking a fight, merely pushing for the spread of correct information

No they were not meant to be accompained by a symphony. You arent spreading correct information at all man. Chopin didnt write anything but piano pieces. If you dont know about music, dont claim you do.
Quote:
symphony music might be the most appropriate way to classify it, but classical music refers to a very specific time period for us educated folks
And this proves you dont know what you are talking about. If you want to classify "classical" as a certian time period you have to classify the music I put up as Baroque and Romantic. you fail.

I know very fucking well that's how they should be classified, but you specifically said Quote:

So I was helping you find some alternative ways to say it. Take a deep breathe and relax sometimes for christ's sake.

You insulted me firts by callin me failtonic, then called me uneducated. Clearly you had no idea what you were talking about. Also you said you "were trying to spread correct information". And then went along to spread incorrect information. Maybe you should take your own advice and take a deep breath and relax.

I didn't call you uneducated, I just called myself educated, which is the truth. College degree = educated.
And once again, I wasn't spreading misinformation. I was trying to HELP YOU find alternative ways to phrase the genre since you SPECIFICALLY said you didn't want to call it a "baroque and romantic" thread. I'm sorry that you love to nitpick so much, If you don't want to call it that then there are clearly no alternatives, but I was trying to suggest other things to call the music.

Trip if it makes you feel any better, I didn't know the term "classical music" refereed exclusively to music from the classical era either. I suppose we're both uneducated losers...
Then again, I was born on a farm in the soviet union so what the fuck do I know about anything anyway.
Anyway, just to fire things up a bit....
This is from Wikipedia:
Quote:
the term classical music is used colloquially to describe a variety of Western musical styles from the ninth century to the present, and especially from the sixteenth or seventeenth to the nineteenth.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_era_music
Quote:
Classical music is the art music produced in, or rooted in, the traditions of Western liturgical and secular music, encompassing a broad period from roughly the 9th century to present times.[1] The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period.

I'll concede that chopin was not a symphonic composer. Brain fart when I wrote that
However, you're completely wrong if you say that a college degree isn't educated that's EXACTLY what the word education means; formal learning from an institute of EDUCATION. I don't know how you can possibly argue that Granted, not everybody who's educated is intelligent, and there are plenty of non-intelligent people with college degrees, but by the very definition of the word they are ALL educated. That's the ONLY definition of the word

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.

Alright trip, grab your violin and we'll have a showdown.
For that matter, grab ANY instrument you can and I'll school you on it
And for the record, it wasn't really about being right or wrong, or who has the "most" knowledge on the subject. I was just giving you a ribbing until you went and got all Chris Crocker on me

See Trip, i'm not going to be like that. I do not care about the details of this crap, what i do care about is, I moderate this forum and there was a major flaming/trolling war going on! I do not car who is smarter! I do not care who is right or wrong! In the end this kinda crap is not allowed out of the dome, Period!
I am telling all parties involved in this thread to the fuck out and get back on track or ima whip out the ban stick!
You sir are to nice of a guy.Quote:

This is why I've stated in the past that both Triptonic and yourself should have each other on nigged.
You two fellas just can't get along.
I'm about to clean this thread up a bit, but I ask that the trolling stops outside of the dome, or I'm going ban happy.

Done and done.
By all means clean up this thread. I had no intention for it to get so out of hand.

I used to play violin, piano, drums, and now guitar for about 5-6 years.

This sorta counts I guess. I'm making an entire album out of overlapping and editing bizarre shitty old records that are in my collection out of curiosity (4 albums of 1950's Hungarian Gypsy Music for example - not in this album tho). This one is a Concerto in A Minor off of an RCA Victor LP from the 50's with the Microsoft Narrator reading the Jabberwock by Lewis Carol then a song out of a book I have from 1917 called "Rapture of the Year". Then at the end I put in Helena Hendel The Chalutzim-Israeli Pioneeress singing "Shoshana" in reverse. I threw in echoes and phasing between speakers too. You should definitely download it or it'll sound like shit.

Wow, this thread got out of hand....and ironically, its pretty classical of the online relationship between Harry and Trip....
But, on topic, here's my favorite Classical Song of all time (I think its Classical, if not, don't bash me! I'm a gentle man! )
"Fur Elise" by Beethoven
Heard it on San Pedro + Herb on my first San Pedro trip ever, and it was one of the most beautiful stories I've ever heard....
Always calms me down... ~ TrueHerbCrystal ~

Yea it was either that or pasting in words from ask.com's dictionary - which would be impossible for the Jabberwocky
- I'm glad you liked it though maybe i'll post another off the album
