Alright, The time of 12/12 is just around the corner for me and I'm completely out of bloom nutrients. I'm going to be hitting the hydro store on friday (15% off sale for spring! woo!) So I wanted to poll some people on what they think the best nutrient options are. I've already discussed this with Koons so I know his stance (although you're more than welcome to come debate it publicly still!) but I wanted to see how the rest of the growery felt.
First off, money is not an option here. Both of these following nutrient lists will cost me about the same, so please don't discuss the financial ramifications of purchase. a $10 difference overall is negligible.
Option 1 General Hydroponics -Floranova Bloom -Floralicious -Floranectar -Koolbloom liquid and powder
Option 2 Advanced Nutrients -Sensi A+B -Big Bud -Overdrive BudCandy

I like option 1. But it's just what I have used.
I'd like to see the advanced nutrients in action.
Can't wait to see which way the community will go on this.

At this point I'm preferring AN, I did lots of research before I bought nutes, and it seems like they hav the slightest edge. Keep in mind I'm using their 3 part.. Plan on moving up to the Sensi line next.

Hmm... I knew that's what stoney would vote... and I certainly like his results that I've seen on here.
For the record Koons agrees with you stoney
for some reason AN just gives me a chubby. And for no reason other than I've been brainwashed by all the advertising and hype
they just look so awesome!

Where did you do this research?
Nothing formal, I just searched and searched until my fingers were sore, looking at differents resutls.. We know there is always grower eorror, but it seemed to me the people using AN were a little bit ahead of the curve. Just my opinion.
I really wished I would have saved some of the pics and threads I found, but I didn't.. Mine are just barely 3 weeks old right now and under some flouro tubes, so nothing impressive there. Will keep you guys updated as I progress though.

what are your base nutes? And how was the yield overall? looks like highly potent smoke

This grow was kind of haphazard. Base nutes ranged from pure blend pro to roots organics.. They did not get enough food because of various situations. All in all I'm satisfied, though.
Yield was a little under an oz for about a 2' 6" tall one main cola plant. No cropping or anything special was done to the SLH.
Working on the yield part..
In the end I'm a happy camper! My god does she smell of goodness and sticks to the jar!
Edit: You mention potency - Think clear headed giggles and focus with a narcotic body euphoria creeping in after about a half hour. Extremely uplifting smoke. Anti-depressant qualities indeed. Not super speedy or anxious, either.

I vote option one, but that's because I'm a converted GH slut now. Guarantee you this, if you buy that small bag of Kool Bloom dry you're set for like 3 years lol
If you're not using it, I can also recommend the Snow Storm. At 12 bucks for the small bottle (which is plenty), it's definitely worth checking out. It will fit in with whatever line you end up going with

I'm super excited to see the results of this!
I don't know where to take a stance though because I use products from both GH and AN.

I'd say the GH option.
Basically because I personally like it a lot, and from what magash said, the GH line gets basically the same results as the AN line, but at a cheaper cost and simpler regimen, such as the 1 part FN series.

well, I've decided to go with GH for a couple reasons.
1st, I already have a bag of Koolbloom 2nd, I just talked with a GH rep and he's going to give me a free bottle of FNbloom, so that's like $30 saved
oh and coda, I've got snowstorm, but I bought it before they relabeled it so it's called PurpleMaxx

Your reasoning should have been AN is a bunch of douchebags who know how to make nice labels and GH is tried and proven.

lol, fucking SNAP.
nah, being on weeds means nothing, I just like to mention it because some people see it as a serious and legitimate selling point.
In all honesty I was a little disappointed with my last harvest. I used just the lucas formula and a little kool bloom and while the potency was good the yield was below average IMO. I'm going with the FULL gh line this round and I'm expecting to reach my goals

Dense canopy = key to yields.
I'm going to try to foliage feed and trim some of the fan leaves to try to improve yields a bit next time around.

what do you mean by dense canopy? just having the plants packed in there like mofo's?
I'm thinking about flowering in a week or two. Might keep tying them sideways for a little longer just to take up as much horizontal space as possible with them.

Good choice, like Inverted said there the same ones got more hype tho thats all. I too use Floranova and have since it came out, I started outdoors with it then moved to indoor hydro ebb&flow and now coir and its worked great. A fellow grower I kno uses AN with the same strains as me (since he cant clone I gotta do it for him) and his results are acctually slighly less than mine altho this can be partly due to the fact I have much more experience. But, IMO they have the best out right now.
Also, GH just came out with an organic line called General Organic, and im hearing great things of it, I plan to pick it up myself and try it out. One thing that cought my eye was in the line they have a Cal/Mag suppliment, given what we kno about them two in flowering (they use more at this time, and most nutes dont cater to this) I think this is great. Its on the shelves now if your interested in buying it. I always said what more can I ask of GH and BAM! they filled my long awaited request.

Nothing special about it, I use GH and untill now they dint have a product like this thats all. I only like to use GH stuff, sure I could have got it somewhere else but dint want to I like GH.
If someones plants died Id blame that directly on grower error, GH has good stuff.

well yeah duh, no nute company is going to release a product that kills plants. However, this thread is about which line would yield more under identical growing conditions

Been threw pretty much every nute line. I myself like list 1. I do like AN but have never found that they live up to the hype they like to create. When any nutrient is used properly none should be able to make a plant yield more cause all any nutrient can do is make the plant grow at it's best and at that point it's up to genetics.

I understand that you normally don't want to remove fan leaves, just wondering when you do it.

This isn't true everything green is photosynthetic except for woodier stems/branches, once you've got a large plant photosynthesis can be unhindered with some fan leaves removed. I usually remove a decent amount of fan leaves before the bulking weeks on a 9 week strain this would be end of week 6 on... typically speaking. This is to allow light to the lower areas of the plant which isn't necessary with all strains as some have minimal branching and narrow leaves that don't block much light.
This makes for less popcorn and the most marketable buds possible. I also try to take off the bottom most branches (2-3 of them) to develop higher branches or the main cola more.
