    #359457 - 02/07/10 06:51 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

So i know that the season starts around late April or early May and the time to crop is around November but around what month does the plant transition from Veg to Flower?

Anyone know?

I am confused about what side of a hill is best to grow on when living in the NW/West side of the United States (California).
I have been told to plant on the Northern face however I think  the South Facing hill will have maximum sun exposure?

I'm not sure if change from Southern Hemisphere to Northen makes a difference; but we plant on north facing slopes here in the Southern Hemisphere. I'd assume it'd be opposite, but because of the seasons, so you'd still plant north facing in the Summer. If in doubt check what direction the sun rises and falls and you can figure out which side gets the most sun.

Yea, I have found information related to Australia saying to grow on a Southern hill.  So that is why I am thinking I have to grow on a Northern hill here in the USA.

The sun rises in the East and sets in the West,  all I have determined is that the East facing hill near me get the least amount of sun since they have moist, damp soil that is covered with Poison Ivy.

Thanks for the feed back Snurry!!!

If you plant on the north-facing slope of a hill your plant will get the LEAST amount of sun. people only suggest it because the north slope retains water better. If you have the ability to properly irrigate your plants then you definitely want to plant on the south facing slope, people just don't do it because the soil dries out MUCH faster than flat ground due to all the sun.

also, the date of global 12/12 is september 20 this year. Theoretically cannabis should start flowering exactly on that day, but it will most likely vary by 2-3 weeks in either direction depending on strain.

Harry_Ba11sach How did you come across the information about the the global 12/12?  Please share!

And yes I have a gravity irrigation system ready for the ones that will be growing on the North/South side.  (I have will only have about 5 plants on the dry side so it is maintainable)

Thank you on the valuable information!

I learned about the Equinox and Solstice in Earth Science like 6 years ago so thanks for the refresher!!!!!!

Well according to thisWEBSITE the Vernal Equinox is on March 20th and the Autumnal Equinox is on September 22

But you said it would end on the 20th so what source did you get your information from? Not that I care about what exact day/time it switches but just to see if you have a more official link.

I approximated because it varies from year to year, and cannabis won't start flowering exactly on the day of 12/12 anyway

Some years the Spring equinox is the 21st, and some years it's the 20th, and in the same way the fall equinox varies from the 20th to the 22nd.

just think about where the equator is in relation to you. If the sun rotates around the equator (which it does) and the equator is south of you, then obviously the sun will be in the southern part of the sky.

If you're in the southern hemisphere then the sun is north of you because the equator is north of you.
