If you plant on the north-facing slope of a hill your plant will get the LEAST amount of sun. people only suggest it because the north slope retains water better. If you have the ability to properly irrigate your plants then you definitely want to plant on the south facing slope, people just don't do it because the soil dries out MUCH faster than flat ground due to all the sun.
also, the date of global 12/12 is september 20 this year. Theoretically cannabis should start flowering exactly on that day, but it will most likely vary by 2-3 weeks in either direction depending on strain.

I approximated because it varies from year to year, and cannabis won't start flowering exactly on the day of 12/12 anyway
Some years the Spring equinox is the 21st, and some years it's the 20th, and in the same way the fall equinox varies from the 20th to the 22nd.

just think about where the equator is in relation to you. If the sun rotates around the equator (which it does) and the equator is south of you, then obviously the sun will be in the southern part of the sky.
If you're in the southern hemisphere then the sun is north of you because the equator is north of you.
