 Bribing the authorities - Any stories?

I know there'll be a time in my life that I'll have to do it, so I want to know about some experiences, or, how you went about it.
I figure that to be safe I'd just insist on paying a fine on the spot, and not mention the word bribe or keep this money for yourself.
Note that I'm talking about foreign officials, although if you have experiences either successfully or unsuccessfully bribing western officials - please share.

A week of their pay? Less? More?
Talking about turning a blind eye to a victim less crime, I mean.

my homie was slangin pills at a rave
he had at least 100
and he also had 500 cash
he told the cop 2 jus take the cash and let him go
and he did law

why would a cop need to buy pills when he can just take them from the evidence drawer
