When selecting a strain/seed what should a newbie consider?
    #373355 - 02/25/10 12:59 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

1.) What strains/sites should i stay away from?
2.) Fem'd out seeds are 99.9% females... reliable?
3.) Looking for seeds with maxium yield medium to strong potency.

I had purchased super skunk and i think i may have gone wrong with are the reading i have been doing about it... seems that it is for more experienced growers....opps.

1) Anything that talks about incredible potency is going to yield low. also stay away from Greenhouse Seed co.
2) yes
3) Critical Mass by Mr. Nice, or the strain "chronic"  both yield huge

Consider what you want in a strain. Do you want head high or body high? Do you want a short or tall plant?

Yes and no. Under the right conditions, it can be guaranteed that your feminized seed will result in a female plant. These conditions are:
- Increased nitrogen level
- Higher humidity level
- Lower potassium concentration
- Lower air temperature
- More blue light
- Less hours of light

naa man, i think i heard someone wrote they can change sex with doing things like that. but under regular growing conditions they will be female, might go hermie if you stress them but essentially female. dont worry about that.

it depends on the method that was used to create the feminine seeds. If the plants were stressed and hermied then the feminized seeds will most likely hermie as well, but there are some safe methods

ANYTHING INDICA bro. Anything predominantly Indica. Indicas are durable, resistant to pest and molds, finish flowering between 6-8weeks and, and can take some over feeding. Perfect for beginers who can tend to give their girls to much love.

You are 100% wrong. Those conditions are the ideal conditions for plants during vegetative growth. Happy plants have a tendency to be male.

Finally, a feminized seed can turn out to be male - not hermie - male. Believe me. It has happened to me.

--EDIT--
Here is are some links for you to read.

This article explains the ideal conditions for producing females out of standard seeds:

Here is an article that explains how feminized seeds can become males and hermaphrodites:
