Noob asking about feeding schedual
    #366037 - 02/17/10 12:15 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

So, I haven't QUITE started up yet, but I figure it really can't hurt to know my plan ahead of time.

I just purchased Grow Big, Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom from Fox Farm. I was poking around, and found the following feeding chart:

http://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/soilfeed.pdf

Does this look accurate to you guys?

Also - where multiple things are listed, do I put both in? For example, week 7 and 8 of the chart suggest feeding all 3. 2 tsp ea of grow and tiger bloom, and 1 tbsp of big bloom.

Does that mean I mix a total of 4 table spoons, and 1 tbsp into my gallon of water?

Also - it suggests only feeding every-other watering. Is this a common practice?

Thanks!

JUst remember to use nutrients like every other two waterings, I found salts to build-up more easier with it.

I found that schedule to be a little heavy, but it could just be my genetics.

Remember to always start low (1/4 or 1/2 doses etc) and add to it till you think your plants are happy and healthy.  Lighting, ventilation, genetics and other environmental factors will all add to nutrient uptake ability and you have to find your own sweet spot.

Not to derail this thread, but how can you go giving new members advice on nutrients when you just made 200 posts last night admitting how overwhelmed you are trying to chose nutrients for YOUR first grow?

You really need to be careful with this advice trip. the full strength nutrients are NOT safe for seedlings.

My job as a moderator in this website it's my job to promote the spread of correct information pertaining to cannabis cultivation and quench the flow of ill-informed advice from inexperienced users. you're more than welcome to share what you've read and what you think is the truth but you can't spread it as the gospel and claim that you're the next magash.

you don't know as much as you think. here's an example;

To the OP-  Fox farm ocean forest soil is naturally laden with high quantities of organic matter that will be broken down into food for your plant for at least a month or two. if you're using Ocean Forest you won't need to use ANY nutes at all until around the time flowering begins. I've even seen some strains not need nutrients for the entire grow with that soil.
additionally, I wouldn't feed every other watering. organic nutrients in soil are stored for considerably longer than nutrients in a hydroponic medium, so feeding once every 3-4 waterings should be sufficient. Remember, you're feeding the microbes in the soil, not the plant itself.

And the most important part, this comes from personal experience, not from just reading what people say.

good luck with your grow, and don't hesitate to ask questions when they arrive

yes it was. you told him to feed every other watering and use the schedule on the FF website. Both of which are completely incorrect. I'm not pissy, I'm doing my job. keep bickering in this thread and arguing with my advice and I'll continue to do my job

You started it man, not my fault. You like to start arguements with me over eveything. Dont threaten me all the time. You were the one that derailed the thread. If nothing else I gave him a free bump. Dont bitch at me for trying to help someone.

  My apologies to the OP, I really didn't intend for this to turn into an argument but I apparently trod on somebodies ego and they can't let it go.

I repeat, DO NOT feed at the strength recommended by FF from the start, it WILL kill your plants if you feed them 2tbsp per gallon as seedlings. Triptonic thinks that's acceptable, but it's wrong. I have a sworn duty to counter incorrect advice on this forum when I see it, and that's what I'm doing. once again, I apologize for derailing this thread, twas not my intention

All you needed to say is that what I said was wrong, and correct me so I will know in the future. I thought it said 2 tsp. not 2 tbsp. but you think that the company would know what they are talking about.

they're in the business of selling nutrients, they tell you to use extra so you buy extra. just like dog food. they don't care if your dog gets fat, they just want you to run out and get more of their product

Exactly harry!!!

I Barely use nutes.  I use 1/4 of the recommended amounts, sometimes 1/2 and have had no deficiencies really.

Or you can do like Magash does and pump as many nutes to your plant as it will handle in order to get bigger yields.

Makes sense to me. I'm about to find out.
