ok...i'm in a computer learning mood tonight. i've got a post i'm goin through on the shroomery, and i got a question, what's new huh?
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10821767/page/20
there's the link.
on the fifth post, doc t says this:
"It's not a bug, it's a feature!"
Quote: MisterMuscaria said: Holy shit. Thats crazy.
It's done that for years, but hardly anybody ever notices. There's a lot of great Windows features like that.
what are some of the other features he speaks of? like keyboard shortcuts and features and whatnot?

Yes it's called Google chrome.
So far I like Firefox much better.
But chrome is coming right along tho.

yeah that's what i'm using now is firefox. i've become very comfortable with it. i like it a lot actually.
so stoney, your cons are that you like firefox better and your pro is that chrome is coming along? i like it.
another question:
ok, i'm going through things to make my comp. more efficient and fast. i'm messing with my browser and how long it keeps cookies right now. it's set on keeping them until they expire, should i change it to when i sign off??????

sure, you will notice that change though when it prompts you to input stuff that it used to remember. passwords and usernames mostly.

No clue man, don't know nothing about the business end of things with them.
What I do know is I downloaded both at the same time about 6 to 8 months ago.
At that time chrome didn't work for shit on many sites I visit, nor did it work with my magnifier that I use to read.
Now days the sites aren't and issue and they have lots of new addons that are cool.
But it still doesn't work with my magnifier exactly right, in time I think they'll get that fixed as well.

3.6 lol. thank you.
i just added on no script for firefox as well. what exactly is a script.
does it prevent scripts from running from sites you don't want it to (i.e. bad porn sites, pop ups, etc. etc.) and in turn, prevent viruses??? or help to anyway?
i can't look at videos either. it says i've got javascript off or an old flash player. i'm thinking it's java script because my flash player wasn't old like 2 hours ago. how do i turn it back on?

yes, my buddy (who is a hardcore IT guy) has that on his machines. I think of it like a firewall. Did you not read the description of the plug in before you dloaded it? Google the name of the program and read the first few pages that come up.

how do i turn java script back on?
well fuckin a, according to my internet options, javascript is enabled and i still can't watch videos. wtf. and i even added youtube to my whitelist and it still won't play videos.

i think, in the bottom right corner of your firefox window there will be an anti sign (circle with diagonal thru it). click it and chose to allow scripts for that page.

ok i got it working. i didn't necessarily want to allow scripts for the porn site, because it allows other sites, but i guess i have to. thanks man. i'm sure i'll have some new questions some time or another.
edit-i deleted the ones i didn't want.

FBD you can run java with out allowing all scripts.
Click on Tools, then click options and then check the box that says enable java.

well i had to run scripts on pornhub.com. i checked and my java was enabled and actually uninstalled my flash player and downloaded the upgraded version and it still wouldn't play vids. i had to run scripts on youtube too. oh well, i'll keep fucking with it and hopefully work out the bugs. if it gets to where it's not worth it, i'll just get rid of it.

I'm glad I didn't uninstall IE8, because that's all my PC will run. When I run the LATEST Firefox verison, it crashes every 5 minutes at random. Makes me so MAD!
There's no good reason to uninstall it: It doesn't take that much space on your hard drive, it comes standard with Windows, and its a good back-up in case FireFox becomes a flamming retard and crashes every 5 minutes (like it has for me).
If you never want to see it again, just remove it from your "Start" menu and delete the Icon on your desktop. Now, its like it was never there! And if you REALLY need for back-up, just search for it in the "Search bar" and there it is. Yeah!

Did you get sp2 installed? That link I gave you seemed legit. Do you have a lot of malware on your machine? Lots of different malware fucks with IE. IDK, I'm impatient, I would just reinstall. Run active kill disk then reinstall OS if you're having a bunch of headaches IMO.

i dunno man. if you had a better reputation around the site, i would be more apt to check it out. but you saying you can't guarantee it's legit, and you've got "winner of the fag ban vote" (which i do remember) as your title, makes me kinda skeptical. thanks for your help, but i'll get it taken care of. plus it's not like my comp is haggard, shit runs pretty good actually.

OK, I understand where you're coming from. Check out the screen shot and the download location. Check out the file size and name. I'm honestly trying to help you. If you're not sure, ask others here who know computers and see what they think. I work with computers and can tell you that it's the correct file name and size. Good luck finding the .exe on the microsoft site. (Even though that's the download location )
