didn't google buy up firefox years ago anyway?
No clue man, don't know nothing about the business end of things with them.
What I do know is I downloaded both at the same time about 6 to 8 months ago.
At that time chrome didn't work for shit on many sites I visit, nor did it work with my magnifier that I use to read.
Now days the sites aren't and issue and they have lots of new addons that are cool.
But it still doesn't work with my magnifier exactly right, in time I think they'll get that fixed as well.

FBD you can run java with out allowing all scripts.
Click on Tools, then click options and then check the box that says enable java.
