led and cfl?
    #361480 - 02/10/10 03:09 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

I was thinking about getting 2 14w led panels off ebay but i dont know if it will be enough light for 7 plants.

Does anyone know if it will?

And if not if i added some cfl's would it be efficient?

a 14 watt led is enough for 1.5 square feet

A decent size plant needs about a 1footx1foot area

So no its not enough for 7 plants...unless you do like a sog initiate flowering very fast but your yield would be shit

You would be a lot better off investing the money that would be spent on an LED system into and HID setup.  The yield and quality of the bud you grow will be substantially better.

so i need to get some high output flourescents because hps is out of the question. so would i want 6500k and 2700k bulbs. what could i do to get better bud with flourescent?
im using soil with guano, kelp meal, forest humus, chicken manure, peat moss, worm castings, oyster shell, lime dolomite, and fir bark.
it all came in the soil i didnt add anything. im going to LST when there big enough.

I'm doing a grow with a kush cross and cfls

2700k and 6500k at a 1:3 ratio

a small fan and around 100 watts of cfls will get a nice yield..I don't know much about leds

But they are good once you adjust them to your liking I just don't care to take the time but I do like the no heat deal

ok thanks, ya i dont know much about them either but wanted to try them because its less energy no heat and good bud.

so 100w for 7 plants, hows the quality with cfl's? i heard it sucks.

Ohhhhhh for all 7 plants you're going to need a hps or mh

I don't see a cfl covering enough area...

Plus cfls create more heat per watt than HIDs

How much money do you or can you spend?

I'll show you something that will do fit your bugdet

http://www.1000bulbs.com/105-Watt-Compact-Fluorescent/31681/

Those are full spetrum good for for use 2 of those if you can and a couple of the soft white 2700k lower wattage but close to tbe plant.

And here is how to build a fixture for 30 dollars...I would recommend

http://www.1000bulbs.com/105-Watt-Compact-Fluorescent/31681/

and coulnt probably find them cheaper to build im using a cardboiard boxed for this grow to prove a point

Yeah, those screw into any E26 fixture(regular socket) If you are using a fixture for like a yard/motion light base, you'll have to extend the deep socket. A screw and nuts of the same size will even it up enough. Home Depot sells them in 2700K and 6500K range in 300w(=) range for 15 bucks, and a fixture from the electrical/wiring section for 10$

It is that easy.
