Clone test.

I've cloned before in the past with slight success but I just stuck them in peat pellets and kept them moist.
I'm going to try the Han's method (with slight adjustment to follow direction on the bottle of b-1)and see how that works for me.
Ok, I had some straight up and down growth and after extensive research learning how pruning increases yields is pretty much every fruiting plant/tree.
I was gunna remove them and toss them anyways but figured why not do a test run cloning to see where I'm at this early before outdoor season or if I'm going to need some practice.
I have a good feeling this time around. Wish me luck.
The method I used consisted of normal cutting of a 4-6 inch specimen.
Trimmed like normal cloning procedures.
The cutting where dipped into rootech gel then immediately placed into a small cup containing a B-1 rooting solution.
They where left to soak for about 25 min when they where dipped in rootech again then placed into some soil.
The remaining water from the cup used to soak was filled in the small resevoir to the depth of about 3/4 of an inch.
Place on a heating mat.
Temp of substrate.
Temp of ambient air.

Best of luck to you.

I think it stimulates roots.
The chart says to soak rockwool cubes in it and the bottle says u can just soak the stems in it, where u want roots to grow.
Some kind of hormone.
I think its almost the same as the clonex solution they use in they're cloners.

Ok guys, take a tray like this Take one of these little pumps (there like 10 bucks at petco) and stick it to the side of the tray so it stirs the water. Now take a air pump and a air stone and put the air stone right under the output of the little water pump so the bubbles get caught up in the water stream coming out of the pump.
Now put something over the top of the tray that will hold the cuttings with about 1 to 1.5inch of the stem in the water. No need for a dome or misting the cuttings. Just remember to change the water every day and I will guarantee any of you at least 80% success.

I just bought the one at the only hydro(type) shop in the area.
http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=3351#
I like supporting them because they carry some nutes I use and don't have to get them shipped that way.
Lowe's has a different brand for like 30 bucks with the plant tray and pellets included. It's only a single as mine is a double.

Hey also do still put Cloning gel/poweder on the stems or would you just add it to the water?

No I still dip the clones in the gel like normal.
With no gel
With gel
Some secrets for you folks. Know why there is rooting hormone in cutting gel? So that when you read the label you get happy. Know the real job of rooting gel? The real job is to weaken the outer surface or actually burn it so that roots can start easier. Scraping does the same thing pretty much with out the fungus killer.

Since I'm in a clone learning stage. I'll try this. Already have what I need. That's nice for a change.
Water pH between 6.4 to 6.8 OK ? Or should it be closer to 6?
Thanks

I think closer to 6 pH is better from what I have read for aero cloners.

You know to tell the truth I just use the water right out of the tap. I don't start to worry about the ph till I see roots.

Nice to know.
I'm using this set up now and have the beginnings of roots 10 days in, I figure another 4 to 7 days and I'll add a lite bloom nutr and they'll start jumping.
And I'm digging the sig Mag.

would it be possible to use one of those bubble strips to aerate the whole tray and not worry about the lil water pump?

Two inch net cups and collars, I used these to hold the clones up right.Quote:

I'm trying this as well, tho the dome doesn't seem to be needed that way either.
They truly seem way slower than with the pump.

How long do you let a plant heal for after it has been cloned if you intend on flowering it?

I won't flower the mother until I have found a better one to replace it.
As for the clones they're rooting under 12/12 now.
As soon as they have roots strong enough for feed, true flowering will begin.
I usually root the clones over 14 to 21 days before starting feed.

Looks sweet. Thanks for the pic's.
The pump I have doesn't work with a shallow tray. Next time I'm by Lowe's or home depot will look for one.
I like building garden stuff.

At Home Depot and Lowes the only pumps I could find were pond pumps and such, and they were expensive. Look at pet shops or online for better prices. I bought mine from an online pet supplies site for like $13, it is 370 GPH and plenty for an aero cloner. Mine is a 14 site 5 gallon bucket, but the pump is powerful enough I could do a huge Rubbermaid tote if I wanted to.
