I'm not stating a fact here or anything. But from personal experience people I know who got heavy into acid definitely had major changes of personality. Going from being your normal every day cynical person, to liking fantasy and shit. I can't help but get an anxious vibe or insecure vibe off people who've gone down the rabbit hole. Can anyone else corroberate this?

Just because all you see in the media about heroine and meth is the bad side.
Does not mean that everyone who does them will become addicted
Anyone who abuses any drug will experience "major changes of personality"
You singling out psychedelics is retarded
The over use of any drug will have negative long term side effects.
The occasional use of any drug will have very little long term effects.
That is a simple fact of life man, get used to it.

Saying that because not everyone becomes addicted to Heroin and Meth means they're not highly addictive would be stupid. Although I don't see you arguing that. Maybe you're not quite as thick as I think you are. However, you suggested that the only thing wrong with Heroin and Meth is the effects that occur when the user takes too much of them. And this is bullshit. I don't know enough about meth to really comment, but I certainly know that there's more wrong with Heroin than if you use it too much.
Are you seriously arguing that A)Heroin is not highly addictive. And B)That this addictiveness is not a very negative property of the drug? Because that's what I'm getting from your posts.
I know people who've smoked all their lives and had great success in thier careers and lives in general. I know people who've drank heavily all thier lives and done the same. Overuse of some drugs won't fuck with your personality in as drastic a way as with drugs that cause major shifts in consciousness.

Alright Einstein let me break it down for ya.
Your OP was about people who abuse psychedelics having major changes in personality.
All Im saying is that ANY drug when abused has the potential to negatively affect ones personality.
This has nothing to do with the drugs addictive qualities what so ever.
The ability to function in society has nothing to do with it either.
You can have a drastic change in personality and still function fine.
You came in here bashing psychedelic users and I simply stated
that any drug can do that to people not just psychedelics
So get offa your fucking high horse and stop condemning people for doing something you disagree with.

a friend of my parents took acid every day for over a year and is now running his own bizniz and makes bank.
he is one of the most clear headed guys i know.
sure some people get fucked up from over use but i wouldnt say everyone
i'd take cid every day if i had money like that.

Just wanted to chime in here, but don't loop me in on the drama:
If you are basing your opinion on people you've encountered, then your sample is skewed toward the kind of people that you are around. I'd like to state the opposite: everyone I know who has done psychedelics has come out of it with a higher level of clarity, and occasionally some positive changes in their lives.
Here again though, my sample is skewed because I choose the people I'm around, so they fall into a relatively (relative to the entire U.S. population/world population) narrow demographic, much like your own acquaintances. Therefore, neither of us can make an accurate statement about psychedelic use and its effect on personality...which I think you acknowledged in the OP.
Your OP also indicates a certain disdain for the things that these people you know have gotten into ("fantasy and shit") which is where I think NiteOwl's defensiveness came from.

Ok, so let's just take for instance the person who goes from being a studious teen, who's actual activites would be accepted by his parents. Who has a healthy interest in psychadelic drugs. For fun or for consciousness expansion(whatever you prefer). Who's quite down to earth. Who over the space of 5 years changes totally to someone who has an affinity towards fantasy, or random nonsense, or someone with some sort of insecurity complex. These are traits I've seen in friends that have taken acid(also a lot of pills, weed, and mushrooms) the most sustainedly over the last 5 or 6 years.
An earlier poster said that the people who do heavily use psychadelics and change like this want to. Who agrees? I think it's a possibility that after taking it a few times their personality is altered already towards being inclined towards wanting to be like the example at the end of the 5 years.
Actually I agree that some people can take psychadelic drugs regularly and can still be very grounded, steady people. I'm thinking of a guy called Simon in particular.

I trip all the time and dont think im much of a fairy
if someone trips all the time and after a while becomes out of it and interested in seemingly random nonsense maybe they just discovered that thats what they are into I dont know though my personality stays fairly consistent no matter what im on / have been on
