Never buy your books from a book store. Order online. Most times you can find used copies of your books for like 20-30 bucks a piece. Even if it's a brand new edition you can usually find it for 40-50 dollars cheaper.
Lastly, if you feel like it, why pay at all? My last 1.5 years I never bought a book. Was able to find electronic copies of all my texts for free.
Oh yea I only buy a book is I absolutely need it and cannot find an electronic copy. Still though some of my books are very specialized and rare and cannot be found except a few places.
Indeed, I know what that's like. Your school have classes in which the book for the class is produced for the school? Mine did, kicker was you couldn't sell it back at the end because every year they published a new edition. It only happened in my middle level business classes, but goddamn did they rape the fuck out of you.
My geology prof wrote the book for the course because the other one cost 200+ bucks brand new. His was 30 bucks, definitely made me a happy camper when I didn't have to buy a book I was using only once.
Yea some of my classes have "OSU edition books" which is stupid because selling them back is near impossible. Lately though I have been keeping some of my major specific books for reference for later in life. Engineering books are always so fucking expensive though it's a bitch.
