For my system that has not been an issue, but I have trimmed the roots massively. Just hack what is clogging, and the plants should be fine.

Why on earth would you ever hack at the roots?!? that's the worst thing you can do to a plant!

To save them.
Exapmle.
In my current set up, my second cycle the plats out grew my set up.
They streaked and streaked during bloom. To the point there was no room, and the crop would be loss.
I took each one and had to hack the roots and plant them in soil.
To my surprise I did not loose one and they fucking loved the out doors.
I am just saying, by the time you are blooming and you have a massive root growth you probably can get away with a lot without the plant dying.

Because they're clogging the drains obviously.

And I think by the point they are clogging you'll be more then fine to hack away without fear of damage.

more than fine?! to imply that it's beneficial in some way? the only reason it is beneficial is because it may prevent the plants ultimate death with clogged spouts. cutting roots ime has never beeen an option annd never will be. that's unfortunate. I hope the OP's still do really well though.

well how big were this plants in question? how large was your aero system? can you explain more about the situation so I can see if it's something I should be concerned with? I'm a fan of larger plants so this is something I really want to be informed about.

this is my first grow with an Aero sytem but I can tell you that my drain is not the same as the ones that are on the actual store bought system so I am not to worried.
Here are a few pics to tide you over, Please note Halo 3 (good choice) for size comparison, they are not really that tall yes. Im going to get the flowering shit today and prune up the bottoms and get ready to flower in the next week

you're fine with the pictures. To make them safer just don't share them with the public (there's an option for letting anyone view your photo journal).
As for chopping roots, it is definitely a method of last resort. While it can have its benefits it is also an extremely dangerous practice. Chop too much, or cause too much stress, and you'll kill your plant.
That being said I've seen a lot of people take root bound plants, hack off a bunch of roots, and repot them in new soil with no problems. It's all in how you do it and how much you take off.

beautiful fucking plants friz.
would you care to take a picture of your drain setup? and possibly the roots inside the tube also so I can get a feel for how it looks? I'm planning on growing my plants at least as big as yours before I start to flower so this journal is fantastic

oh so there's really no chance of those clogging the drain because there isn't really a drain lol. it looks like the roots are already to the end of your chamber though, what happens then? do they just grow all the way down into the res?

No I have been pushing them back in pretty often, and its cool to see how much they grow every day, which is at least 4-5 inches. When they get really big ill just put a mesh screen there.
Bought the flowering goodies and will start in a week or so, they are not a foot yet so I would like them to be bigger, cant wait to see how much I get and how sweet it is.

Harry my friend I cannot give an update today. Had something going on and had to move my babies for a day...I will update tomorrow though..
Question for you, when do you think I should start flowering? They are about a foot tall right now, I really want to get at least an 0 off of each so you think I should wait another week?

dude you're already WAY past an ounce each. how big is the light again, 400W? I'd already expect close to 2 ounces from each plant....
here's what my last ladies looked like on day 1 of 12/12, about 14-16" tall.
Got over 6 ounces from one plant, and 4 ounces from the other (different strains)

haha well if you don't have a specific harvest date in mind why not veg them another week or two and really get some fierce yield?
Do you have your light on a mover? 3ft is easy for a 400W to cover, but that 6ft length might make for some really fluffy nugs on the edges of your garden

Nah they are like 4 feet, I wasn't using a few pots so I cut it to make the sprayers stronger, you will see in the update..... I figured those spots wouldn't be worth it because of the light and the closet slopes downward. The ones I have in their now can have quite a bit of room for growth, probably around 5 feet or so, maybe ill veg for another week and then start so I can get as much as possible.....not to worried about an exact date.
Love those plants you had also, they looked very very good. Something for me to aim for.
