Unfortunately I didn't cure it. I dried it in my shroom dryer for about 2 days.
I love the smell of it. It's soo weird!
Taste was not bad, considering it wasn't cured. I liked it. It hit like a fucking monster though, oh my god.... I have never smoked anything other than the stuff you get here on the streets. Euro weed really isn't the best - There's no strain diversity in street deals everything is just "Gras." Which is fucked, because all this shit comes from A-Dam. 
But yeah, it was a really neat experience for me to try homegrown in addition to knowing what strain I was smoking.
This shit is prolly nothing like the stuff you guys grow across the pond, but holy fuck it put me on my ass. I mean, I've gotten fucking high as shit before but this was a whole new level.
Super fucking cerebral - was a little slow hitting but NOT AT ALL disappointing. Skin was tingling, hands shaking, amazing head rush and I could barely move.
All I could say was: "....what tha fuck...." 
I just can't wait to try the real stuff on the plant - shit from the fat colas on top.

if it's that cerebral it's still a bit early to be smoking it, but I can definitely understand the desire to clip a tester nug

Oh it was for sure too early. It was amazing nonetheless though.
Its so hard not to smoke.... I'm in the worst possible position right now. I just finished all my pot on Saturday and I had been smoking for like over a month straight.... that plant is just staring at me and begging.... this sucks... aaaah!!!

Have fun with that  . Buds that airy are hard to cure anyway. Is 2 nugs your entire harvest?

Well first of all that was 2 pics of the same nug,  and no I have a little bit more on the way. Check my grow log.

the pistils are a good indicator for me. yours looks very close to finished though, I would maybe start flushing if I were you.
but in the end you are very correct, go with the trichomes
