It effects the lens of the camera or something. Cant remember what exactly but its normal for that to happen.

Not sure. What kind of camera do you have? Have you adjusted all the settings to see if any of them provide a more appropriate picture?

I've never had that problem. soooooo it's not normal for me. He made a post about it. Something doesn't seem 'normal' to him.

Most cheap cameras have that problem as well. Dont know why but I have read it on here before and it seems like a "normal" problem.

I hope the OP doesn't tell us he's using a cell phone camera. I really do. Or don't. I'm not really sure.

yeaaa im just using my 2.0 mega pixel camera phone - nothing special by any means (tho its pretty good for a camera phone). Its just a pain in the ass to pull all my plants out of my grow to get a good shot of them.
i actually have a digital camera but i lost the cord, and its old, and its out of batteries and blah blah blah...

well, take it into photoshop or another editing program and fix them in there i guess. not sure there's much you can do about it. I would actually recommend just taking the pictures just before the lights go on or just after they go out. You would need a regular light if you don't have a flash on ur cam. That'll be the easiest way to avert the glow of the HPS and the black lines.

you think i would have the same problems with a digital camera?
also, how do i get those really cool looking macro shots on digital cams? I tried putting my camera (3.2 megapixel olympus "camedia") in its macro setting, and zoomed in, but it def didnt work...maybe i just have shitty cameras (and no experience).

Dont zoom in with macro-mode it wont work then. Try not zooming in. Also it probably wont happen with a digital camera. But you never know.

those types of real macro pictures are typically taken with digital SLR cameras with a professional macro lens combined with other macro-photography techniques.

Listen to Furrowed. He's obsessed with photography like me... Turn off the hps for 5 minutes and supplement with another light, like an LED flashlight works great at illuminating trichomes... Flouro's also work well
And yes like Trip said, when macro photos are being taken, you must be as close as possible for the lens/cam to focus, but have the zoom all the way out. This will allow you to get much closer and still remain in focus. I also turn the shutter speed up slightly so that I can avert the shakes from my unsteady hands.
Do we have a macro photo taking guide around here? Maybe I should write one up... We need a stickied thread like that.

If anyone wants to learn macrophotography I refer them this this page....
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=67125&highlight=macro ^A lot of the people who have contributed to that thread are at the forefront of cannabis photography especially Macrophoto. A lot of the pictures you see in that thread you might recognize from some prominent cannabis magazines. It also provides an awesome education.

to take a way better picture with an hps light, just put a pair of sunglasses between the camera lens and what you are taking a picture of, it will counteract the extreme orange color and make everything look normal colored and will also eliminate the black lines. cell phone + average joe smoe sun glasses + plants = great picture.
