I know of many other obscure intruments like this that I will post in the near future...
and yes its a little difficult to obtain a Hang but its possible. they are custom made it Switzerland for around 1,000$... you could probably import one if your really interested.

I was looking at buying a Guzheng. I know the exact one I want too. A little pricey, but man will it be SWEET!

a couple of people i know own one, it's a pleasure to play... i've had many many unforgettable moments with this instrument and these people!
a few months ago after my girlfriends birthday we ended up in the hallway of some old building, kinda looked like a hotel entrance with marble and all and the acoustics were AMAZING, like a church.
my girlfriend got a big Kalimba (sansula) and some other stuff for her birthday so we started a small jam in there with the Hang too, people were peeking out of the window watching us but not complaining. it was truly magical!
both of these friends are travelling now and playing for money on the streets... people just love it.
over here in Barcelona there's also one guy that plays with a couple more people on the street and they really have a nice spot, sometimes i'd go just to hang around and dance, really magical stuff! they were good... now it's winter and everyone's gone though!
