Computer Question
    #333908 - 12/20/09 10:02 AM (15 years, 17 days ago)

Ok, I've got Tor Browser but I don't use it. I want to get rid of it. However, when I go to add/remove programs, it's not listed there.  Do I just delete it off of my desktop???  I know this is probably considered a stupid question by a lot of you, but I've always been under the impression that that really doesn't get rid of the program.  You have to actually uninstall it, right? How do I do that if it's not listed under add/remove programs?

Well, I have never used it so I'm just guessing you extracted it to a certain location. Just go to the location that you extracted it into and delete all the content that deals with the tor web browser.

All I did was install it from the site.  It's not under My Computer C drive. The only place I can find it on my computer is on the desktop.  Just delete it from there?

if it can run it must be in there somewhere.

See if you can find the target of the shortcut on your desktop. It should be under properties, that target will have the files you are looking for.

Ok, I checked into the properties, it says the location is C: blah blah blah/ desktop.  The only place it says it's located is on my desktop.  It's taking up like 24 mb.

Search your computer for a folder named Tor Browser...When you find it delete it. Then delete the icon on the desktop.

That browser is made to run off of like flash drives n stuff so you don't have to install it.

Thank You.  I think you might have been the one who told me about it actually.  Can't remember.

Ok I did it and it automatically deleted itself off of the desktop.  There was like 5 tor browser things under search and it couldn't delete one of them.  But it's gone off of the desktop so it's gone....right?

ok now I searched them again and they're back. can't delete them?????? But they're gone off of the desktop.  Is that kind of like when you delete a picture or something and you can still click it but it's not on your computer????????

Those are probably files used for settings and are left in case you use the software again...How many files did it leave?
