Saw a grow with OVER 9000 watts just in lighting - How, huh, what???!

How could someone use that much just in lighting? Shouldn't they be really fucking worried?

its totally possible, but if its illegal then yes they probably are worried, unless they are patients or live somewhere where its legal.

i would imagine that with 9k lights you would easily exceed the number of plants allowed under any state MMJ law. but idk for sure. There are some commercial grow logs over at ICmag. You can read the commentary on those for some additional info.

yeah commercial grows usually are high wattage operations.

In states like Oregon, you can become a caregiver for however many people you want. So you could easily get up to 9000 watts legally. It's not as rare as you might think.

So there's no limit? You could sow a field full of cannabis and supply like a thousand people? That's how all the laws should be. Thanks for correcting me. I try not to speak of what i don't know but sometimes I incorrectly substitute logic from related understanding.

Oh I wasn't saying that you were wrong. Some states don't allow that type of thing. And until recently the Feds were going after the large co-ops in California that were ops as large as what what your thinking of. That hopefully will stop soon from what the new administration is saying, I'll believe it when I see it though.

so let's say someone were to grow 9000 watts of plants in an illegal state.
how sure are we the POLICE won't find out?
(this is just a hypothetical)

i dunno man. Here's my plan though.....
spend some time learning about solar power. If one does it right you can become self sufficient with the power. In fact, you can create enough of your own solar power to run the meters backward and power company pays you for generating extra electricity for them. we should all be doing this, but the initial cost of all of it is a bit expensive, but worth it in the long run, esp. if you're running a commercial grow op (or a breeding lab or something). There are quite a few people who run the solars out here.

or get a diesel generator and modify it to run off vegetable fuel...now we're talking. Solar panels are waaaaay too expensive for most.

i could go either way.
the problem with solar panels is - do we really get enough sunlight in the northeast to power these suckers? also, wouldn't it be a DEAD give away to everyone else? WTF is this guy running solar power for?

just read this article:
"For $15,000 installed, a 3.5 kilowatt system could generate 5,000 kwh of electricity a year, about a third of most homes' needs."
lol. 5,000 kwh? that's like 5-1,000 ballasts for an hour - no?

lol, uh, that's not what it can do total in a year, That's what it can put out per hour at peak performance. And i know a lot of people with solar panels that don't grow.

ya solar panels aren;t a dead giveaway at all! the generator would be more of one if anyone saw it. It would take a lot of panels to have a good number of lights though...thats the problem.

But your only looking to help reduce the amount of power your drawing from the power company. Not necessarily power your entire grow.
I would do it if I owned my own house.

U could run 80 600watt bulbs off a 50kw generator. from what i remember last...a good deal on solar power is about $3 a watt...it might have changed now...but not by much i assume. thats 30,000$ for a 10kw setup...then u need to buy batteries and all sort of other shit. For a long term setup...it would be a good idea. for short term...diesel gen.

Depending on where you live cause you can't do it in down town LA but windmills are the way to go for generating power at home.

I have a friend living out in the country that has both solar panels on his roof and a wind mill on the top of a hill that's outside of their house. Pretty spiffy setup.

diesel generators - i heard that they aren't meant for continuous use. like you would have to change the oil every 3 days.
anyone on here convert to a bio diesel and just use vegetable oil?
