Hey Harry? (and anyone who's grown in a Secret Jardin tent)

Can you walk me through the parts of this grow tent? I know there is a small opening on the back near the top for cords/cables. I imagine the larger sleeve above it can be used for an exhaust fan. The sleeves on the bottom would be great for a passive intake, but how do you prevent light leaks? If you could just explain how you had it set up I would be most appreciative since I've never had to grow in an enclosed tent like this.

I routed my light cables out of the smaller hole at the bottom on the back, and I had my fan blowing directly out of the top (that hole that points at the ceiling) with the fan power cord routed out of that small hole behind it.
I had the secret jardin sitting in the closet that my 4x4 is in now, so light leaks weren't an issue for me sorry I can't help you with that, but I actually just kept one of the velcro flaps on the side open at all times for airflow.

okay. Thank you...that actually helps a little. I seriously think I'm going to have my wife zip me inside the damn thing and I'll just look for light leaks

Can't you zip her up in there, and lock the zipper!
It shouldn't be a big deal, where do you have the tent located? In an open room?
Make some sort of cheap light baffle, should be easy.
Just get some 90 degree PVC pieces, and paint them black and aim them at the floor, it will not let enough light in to harm the plants... You can use another 90 turn on the inside so that the light has to make a 180 to get in and will not with black painted interior. It'll absorb the light before it can reflect through.

Nice call Inverted! Thanks, that is a great idea!
I, for some reason, always picture just 1/2 inch or 1 inch PVC, and I forget they make it in large diameters. That will work PERFECTLY!

Great to hear man. I have heard doing it that way works wonders.
Do you have a digi? I'd like to see your tent. Are you using it for cloning/veg or for a full grow cycle?

I've made a baffle for smaller vents using (2) cpu fans. One in the beginning of the vent, the baffle vents take three 90 degree turns into the cpu fan on the end. The inside is painted with a a very absorbent matte black paint. No light leaks
And definitely, lock her inside of it!

The fan is set as an exhaust creating a negative pressure inside the tent. There are three openings near the bottom of the tent that will allow air passage (passive intake).Quote:

I have a shitty digital, but once I'm up and running I'll show it off. I have to use it for full grow cycles for now (long story) but I'd like to eventually get set up on a perpetual cycle with about 4 plants at a time harvested every 3-4 weeks.

That's exactly what i'm doing. Although mines not a tent, it's interior dimensions are almost identical. You have a little more height than me but you can really do work in a small space if need be. I have a small veg box that is going to be housing my ladies until the current grow harvests, then I play the ole' swictharoo.
