ive got a 150 watt HPS in one of my closets at the moment. i have 3 san pedros and 1 sour diesel cutting, and am germinating 5 dank bag seeds. the area the grow is in works... BUT id really like to move everything to another room.
my local hydro store has a website, and while looking around on there, i came across these:
http://www.bestgrowlights.com/site/403863/page/897085
they have 1 or 2 set up in the store, but i never thought, "hey, i should get one of those!" didnt know how cheap they are, and im thinking about buying one. just wanting to know if anyone has any experience with these and what do you think about them? would be nice to have something like this in the corner of a room.

well the thing i like about this is its everything i need really. it has places to connect air hoses, place to hang a light (or 2 in the larger 1 which can be separated) AND it can be broken down, moved, and setup quickly if i need to.
my problem right now is keeping my grow area cool. with the doors closed the temp gets up to 80 degrees and the light is 3.5 ft from the floor with a fan blowing the warm air towards the closet doors.

Thing looks legit to me. Go with your gut man. If it seems like a good fit for your space and living situation, go for it. Can't hurt right? It'll pay for it's self. ;-)

How has that 150 been working for you!?
I just got mine today and it's pretty fucking bright!
I like how small the damn thing is! Only 4 inches tall and 7 inches wide!? Amazing, i'm getting another one shortly so my 2x3 area will have 300 watts of HPS and I can take the CFL's out completely!
How is the heat? How big is your space? I need to know if i'm going to have to throw down on serious ventilation or not.
Thanks Pilze

man, so far, i have no complains with this 150 watt HPS. its great!!! its bright as fuck and does more that i thought it would. and im upgrading to a 400 watt HPS in the next week or 2, so things are only going to get more awesome.
the 150s get hot. not too hot but hot enough to burn the plants if theyre within a foot of the light, even with fairly good ventilation.
i have a 3'x4.5'x7' grow tent.i have a fan blowing air in, and a fan set up with one of the ducts open with a flange with a fan blowing air out, and the light it about a foot above the plants, and theyre just loving it!!!
i thought about getting another 150, but because of the built in ballast they make a nice buzzing noise that gets annoying and isnt the most stealthy setup.
i got a sun leaves aurora reflector, pretty cheap, 35 bucks with an air ventilation thing set up in it, so im setting the light up, and getting a cheap 50 dollar inline fan to blow the hot air from the light out the back of the tent. then im going to have a carbon filter hooked up to a 6" inline fan, and out the tent.
in a month, its going to be a fully operational work of art, and lots of my money... i cant wait to see the harvest!!!

Man if you just put a fan blowing across the canopy inbetween the tops and the light, you can get that bitch within 3-4 inches! You will see much better dense growth if you do.
I used to keep my 175w MH at that distance with a fan and had NOOOOO problems only amazingness, until the fan stopped and that's when you need a foot! Burn!

If I had the room for my hydro hut, I would ditch it and buy one of those. I'm not to big a fan of the frame, but then again I have my hydro huts frame which I feel is much sturdier. I like the access ports for exhaust and intake on the sun hut, it's a much better design then the hydro hut.

i can try to lower it so its low enough to cover all the plants but high enough to not burn them.
