Growing plants....?

Is it possible to take an unknown and grow it into a betterplant? Meaning, you buy a bag of stuff, with a lot of seeds, you take the seeds and grow them. But if you provide the proper amount of food and nutrients for the plant, can the plant produce better THC or is all genetics?

im pretty sure THC content is all in the genetics, the way you grow cure and dry the buds and when u pick them will make them taste different and stuff but ya i think the % of thc is in the genetics

Yes, its well known around here that bag seed can be grown better than what was bought.
reason for this is better soil, nutes, ect......

it's a combination of both. great genetics can come out shitty if they plant is stressed, and shitty genetics can come out pretty nice if you take good care of it. GREAT weed however, takes both good genetics and good cultivation for the final product to be amazing

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the bag weed I bought wasn't grown to it's potential. Will start with the bag weed and work from there.

yes you can....if you grow a female and get rid of males you can increase resin... making a better weed product... you can also use uvb lights during flower times to get better crop... also by not giving it water for a few days before harvest it will increase thc

It's very possible to get better genes.
What if the female that grew the bud wasn't that great, but the male that pollinated her WAS... See where I'm going with this? The seed could bare mostly the father's genes, thus growing out a much better product.
How and where do you think the high quality genetics that get better and better every year came from!?!?

uvb lights are the lights you use for reptiles ... during flowering it stimulates marijuana to produce more resin cuz its like in the natural world the UV rays get to the plant and the plant produces more resin to protect itself this is what the uvb light does

UVB: While there is evidence demonstrating increases in potency in bud exposed to UV light, you can't just stick one in there and turn it on with your light cycles. If you do, you'll fry your plants...think mega-sunburn. The most you want to use is 10 minutes every light cycle, and even then only toward the end of flowering. If you're a new grower, don't worry about it, stick to HPS or MH bulbs.
Salvia: please try to provide the whole story when you post lest you kill people's plants. If you don't know the whole story, or if its hearsay, its probably better to keep it to yourself.

no offence but do your own research you put it in at the early stages of flowering and you leave the light on for around 4 to 6 hours not 10 mintues it wont do anything! read the "UVB Lights" post..

Fair enough, you're correct in saying that I haven't researched it much, because I think the results are negligible...especially for a first time grower. Kind of like giving someone who just learned to swim, a SCUBA setup. No need to get new gear before you master the basics.

Almost ANY strain, bag or known, can grow into a super plant that rocks your world. Think of it like giving a hobo steroids, in a controlled environment. It is still a human(plant) but it is still going to do better than one that doesn't have steroids. Give it stress though, or lack it in a certain nutrient field, and it will nopt do as well as it could have. Growing is simply giving a plant the most opportunities to excel up to it's FULL potential.
These kids were all bagseeds.

This is a joke right? You guys are doing this to try and make my head explode I think.
UVB light has not been proven to increase potency in buds but close. The complete lack of it has shown a drop in potency. Some master scientist in Israel who is in that botany show that has been on PBS is the one that proved that.
Next, stressing the plant a-la fucking with the lights, water, temps (and no resin is not a defense against bright light but against animals) will not increase THC, if the plant was grown to it's full potential doing this will do nothing since the plant has reached the limit which it can produce thc or crystals do to genetics. These are wonderful ways to induce a plant to be hermie though.
There is no known steroid, plant supplement, nutrient, light, or method of growing that can produce more thc then just growing the plant to it's full potential to begin with. Believe me if there was esp with the methods mentioned here we would have been doing them for years already and they would be the norm in every grow room.

so would you say that things like snowstorm ultra(or purplemaxxx or whatever) are just enzymes designed to help the plant grow to it's full potential, or are they just a load of hoo-hah?
