Hello, I got a bunch of powdered trim that is unused from my BHO experiment but I find BHO to be too expensive, I have access to laboratory grade solvents, Methanol, 98% ethanol, acetone, and some others. anyway I looked in the merc index and it dident list what THC is most soluable in. Ive read though the threads here and is looks like Hexane is the top choice, Is that the best choice? any input would be appreciated as im using this trim from last year to figure out what works best to use on all my sugar trim from this years harvest!

For some reason I thought I heard negative things about ethanol, but don't quote me on that.
I didn't like the results from the acetone extraction. I've heard the best are Butane, then Iso and Hexane... It's between those three if you ask me.

My personal favorite is iso since its non-toxic and cheap, hexane didnt seem as clean as the iso extraction. What I would really like to do is extract with hexane and do a defatting. I had a friend several years back get 97% pure thc through extraction but he never told me how, that was back in college though so I have no idea where he is today.

Every time I have made iso hash its ended up smelling really really really shitty, and I was using the highest grade iso I could find, it was like 99.5%
it always ended up smelly, like it absorbed lots of chlorophyll

Did you freeze all of your equipment and trim first?
I did this with 70% iso and was able to get the cleanest out of any solvent i've tried thus far.

Hey Inverted, I cool all my stuff too so its glad to know that it actually has a reason for it. Secondly, if you put the hash through a defatting process, it should come out much cleaner.

I meant the fact that they don't mix any other hydrocarbons into it like benzene and the fact that it will evap easily and leave a clean product as long as your not dumb

Dunno about the hydrocarbon part, but uh, you can say that about any type of solvent. All have fast evaporation rates (actually, most are much faster the ISO), and if done right leave no residuals in the final product.
I guess it's all a matter of personal preference, but IMO there are much better solvents available then ISO.
