Yeah same here.

If I can wake myself up enough to do a few reality checks and then fall back asleep, I can usually just walk myself back into a full blown lucid dream.

I was talking to my boss at work a couple days ago, and she was describing these "nightmares" that she has, and then she said that sometimes she would wake up unable to move, and that she felt "evil forces" in the room.
Thanks to this thread, I got to explain what she was experiencing AND recommend the book on lucid dreaming to try to control her nightmares!
GO GROWERY!

I really want to buy that book myself now.

oh bummer
I've been doing the same lately.

I've really been slacking off on my dreaming so I figured this thread should help myself and others get back on track:thumbup:

the hardest thing for me to do when practicing lucidity is staying inspired and committed to dreaming.  It's just so incredibly easy waking up in the middle of the night and morning not even giving a care about dreaming.  Really committing to dreaming is hard work!

I think I'll start my dream journal again tonight.  we'll see how it goes :dancer:

man that's great you could help someone else out because of this thread!

you should really invest in that book.  you should be able to find it at any big bookstore, or you can get it cheap online from amazon.

Here's the chapters to kinda give you an idea of the structure and focus of the book...

the world of lucid dreaming
preparation for learning lucid dreaming
waking up in the dream world
falling asleep consciously
the building of dreams
principles and practice of lucid dreaming
adventures and explorations
rehearsal for living
creative problem solving
overcoming nightmares
the healing dream
life is a dream: intimations of a wider world

I have found that Melatonin + Vitamin B6 + (optional) Valerian Root makes for a great lucid-dream experience.  It is thoroughly documented throughout the internet.

Melatonin in general just helps you fall asleep.  It's the hormone the brain creates to help us go to sleep every night.  As you get older your brain produces less and less and taking it daily as a supplement is an option to help put you to sleep w/ out drugs.

I struggle sleeping as a result of an opiate addiction and take melatonin to help me sleep.  Thanks for reminding me, i'll take that now.

You are right to an extent, however there is more.  For the sake of lucid dreaming, you take melatonin to increase your levels to more than they are at, not get them to normal.  High doses of melatonin can create lucid dreams, and also increases REM sleep (which is deep dreaming sleep).  Also drugs like cannabis increase the synthesis of melatonin.  So yes, it helps you get to sleep, but it also effects other aspects of dreams/sleep.

From my experience, melatonin has negative side effects in lucid dreaming.  It would make me sleep all the way through the night and messed up my normal REM sleep pattern.  I would wake up not remembering a thing about that nights dreams.

Just bought two copies of "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" from Amazon.
One for me, and one for the girl I work with who has the nightmare disorder and sleep paralysis.
Thanks fox!

Ahhh that's so cool man!
You're really going to love this book.  Just be sure to devote a lot of time, patience, and practice and you WILL succeed.

Keep me updated, I'd love to hear about your experiences from the book.  I really need to start training again, I've been slacking lately.  Maybe we can practice the same exercises together and compare results

That's pretty cool.

I had a lucid dream 2 nights ago, first time in years!

And I was tripping on acid and trying to skateboard, it was hilarious.  I don't remember much else though cuz I wasn't too prepared for it.

You should get the book too Inverted!
If the three of us are doing it together that should give me enough inspiration and will power to keep up with my training.

yeah 81renaissance I'd love to hear what that girl thinks of it!  I hope she gains a lot of insight about her experiences.
