Cloning Question

Here is a question that has been bothering me. I know you are supposed to take your cuttings during veg but how do you know the sex before flowering? Can you take your clones after you know the plant is female or do you just take cuttings from a few plants keeping track of which plant they came from then after you plant shows its sex keep only the clones from the females?
Thanks!

Yes.
Take clones from each plant before flowering. When the sex of the original plants is known then throw away any males and keep the female clones. Now watch the females your flower and determine which you like the characteristics of and use the clone as the mother for your future enjoyment.

Ugh. No. You can determine the sex of a plant before you start flowering it by looking at the pre-flowers. Look em up.

No reason to come across as a jerk about it. Anyways, strains differ in the time that they reach sexual maturity, some may show soon while others may take much longer. If they haven't shown sex by the time you are ready to flower, then (like mentioned above) take clones, flower your large plants, and then judging by the way the large plants turn out, kill any bad genetic, or male clones.

This is a mother plant creation though, I would still want to see the flowering characteristics before choosing the mother from my plants. Unless you are keeping all the females you grow or only end up getting 1 or 2 etc.
