so ive made thc butter a few times and im about to make an ounce of bud to a half pound of butter....i have heard of people baking their brownies/cookies/ect. at temps the recipe calls...(300F or over)....and i thought temps over 300F kill thc?.....every time i bake my brownies i bake them at 250F because i dont want any thc to melt.....it takes twice as long but it works....i wanted to know if heat around 300F really does kill thc when baking cookies or brownies???

make a full pound of butter (four sticks)
it will be easier in the long run
and I dont think its a problem if the THC melts, it would already be absorbed into the fat anyway, melting would just make it absorb easier. You dont want it vaporizing (at 314)
Just to be safe I would stick around 250f, maybe 275, but you never know how accurate the temperature settings actually are on your oven

What are you talking about THC vaporizes at 365 degrees buddy... Hah
I cook my brownies at 340-350 with no problems whatsoever.

Yeah it may boil at 314, but it won't be released from the brownies, it's hard to describe, but I know you have to be above 365 for the THC to burn off.

Here
The study linked below is generally accepted as the best temp guide. 365 F is listed as the temp for a complete release of THC, without adding toxins that kick in at higher temps (around 400 F). There are a few sedative, analgesic type compounds that vaporize as high as 435, so you have to weigh the want/need for those against the cleaner vapor you get below 400.
Phytocannabinoids, their boiling points, and properties
?-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Boiling point: 157*C / 314.6 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Euphoriant, Analgesic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antiemetic
cannabidiol (CBD) Boiling point: 160-180*C / 320-356 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Anxiolytic, Analgesic, Antipsychotic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antispasmodic
Cannabinol (CBN) Boiling point: 185*C / 365 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Oxidation, breakdown, product, Sedative, Antibiotic
cannabichromene (CBC) Boiling point: 220*C / 428 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic, Antifungal
cannabigerol (CBG) Boiling point: MP52 Properties: Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic, Antifungal
?-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (?-8-THC) Boiling point: 175-178*C / 347-352.4 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Resembles ?-9-THC, Less psychoactive, More stable Antiemetic
tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) Boiling point: < 220*C / <428 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Analgesic, Euphoriant
Terpenoid essential oils, their boiling points, and properties
ß-myrcene Boiling point: 166-168*C / 330.8-334.4 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Analgesic. Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic, Antimutagenic
ß-caryophyllene Boiling point: 119*C / 246.2 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Antiinflammatory, Cytoprotective (gastric mucosa), Antimalarial
d-limonene Boiling point: 177*C / 350.6 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Cannabinoid agonist?, Immune potentiator, Antidepressant, Antimutagenic
linalool Boiling point: 198*C / 388.4 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Sedative, Antidepressant, Anxiolytic, Immune potentiator
pulegone Boiling point: 224*C / 435.2 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Memory booster?, AChE inhibitor, Sedative, Antipyretic
1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) Boiling point: 176*C / 348.8 degree Fahrenheit Properties: AChE inhibitor, Increases cerebral, blood flow, Stimulant, Antibiotic, Antiviral, Antiinflammatory, Antinociceptive
a-pinene Boiling point: 156*C / 312.8 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Antiinflammatory, Bronchodilator, Stimulant, Antibiotic, Antineoplastic, AChE inhibitor
a-terpineol Boiling point: 217-218*C / 422.6-424.4 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Sedative, Antibiotic, AChE inhibitor, Antioxidant, Antimalarial
terpineol-4-ol Boiling point: 209*C / 408.2 degree Fahrenheit Properties: AChE inhibitor. Antibiotic
p-cymene Boiling point: 177*C / 350.6 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Antibiotic, Anticandidal, AChE inhibitor
Flavonoid and phytosterol components, their boiling points, and properties
apigenin Boiling point: 178*C / 352.4 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Anxiolytic, Antiinflammatory, Estrogenic
quercetin Boiling point: 250*C / 482 degree Fahrenheit Properties: Antioxidant, Antimutagenic, Antiviral, Antineoplastic
cannflavin A Boiling point: 182*C / 359.6 degree Fahrenheit Properties: COX inhibitor, LO inhibitor

I stick to rice crispy treats and chocolate truffles so that I do not have to cook the butter. If you set your oven to 350, then when the heating elements come on I'm sure it gets a little above the set temp.

The boiling point IS the point at which THC is released as a vapor. That means it is not in your baked goods anymore.
I cook at 300 degrees at the very highest; the reason you still get high from baked goods prepared at 350+ is the other cannabinoids present in your bud.
I personally believe (and this part is opinion) that many people cook off the majority of the THC, and that's why edibles are so stoney and body buzzed for them. I've never had issues getting a good heady high with brownies.

Really? Mine don't put me to sleep but to describe it as a heady high? Do you cook chronic into your brownies or schwag?

Yeah man I don't see a bunch of vapor when I open the oven door...
Sorry but I think being as they are cooked into the butter, that the chemical compounds have changed and the THC can't boil out because the butter doesn't boil at 365? I donno I'm just making a point I guess.
I would think it degrades the THC cooking it at 350, but not vaporized.
It says 314 in that study, but 365 all over the net, so which is it Ren? The volcano vapes at 365...

I think this calls for a side by side experiment. I'll get some mids and cook a batch of butter. Then with half the butter I'll make brownies at 295 degrees, and with the other I'll cook a batch at 350, and I'll note the differences with some friends. This may take a minute to get back to though; everybody's gonna wonder why I'm lookin' for mids!

One variable I can think of is that cookies and brownies and whatnot don't cook at an even temperature throughout; assuming the oven is at 350, even if you leave your food in for an hour, the center of the food is going to be considerably cooler than the outside. Assuming variable temperatures within, I think it's safe to assume that even if you accidentally vaporize the THC in the outer sections of the food, the stuff in the middle should be safe.
But yeah, please do some tests on this, there isn't really any data on this subject.
