Experiments with cooking cannabis ....

After reading BatKats Tek on making canna-oil (and after making some potent vaped weed brownies ) I've ventured into cooking w/regular non vaped weed.
I have decarbed 20g of herb @ 220f for 20 minutes checked and gave it another 10 minutes for a 30 minute decarb leaving me with 15g of cleaned powdered cannabis to use
I measured out 14 tablespoons of soy lecithin to be added throughout the heating process.
{I know 14 tbsp sounds like a lot. At this ratio I have almost 3x as much lecithin as I do coconut oil. (1 cup=16 tbsp) I was looking at having 15 servings and the bottle of lecithin said a serving was 1 tbsp. Once I had 14 tbsp in a bowl, it looked like an awful lot so I stopped there.}
I have 15g herb, 1/3 cup coconut oil and ~1tbsp of lecithin in the oven @ 200f. Im going to keep the temps below 250f and go for a long cook/freeze processing. Last two batches of vaped weed went for 10/10 heat/freeze and 15/15.
Probably going to go with another 15 hours of both again. I'll stir every 60-90 minutes while in the oven and add a little of the soy lecithin with each stir.
I have my oil in two pie pans sitting on this ...
The temp reads right at 200 while cooking. Since I'm stirring every hour, I highly doubt that the inner temp ever gets that hot. I wish I had someway of measuring the inner temps while its in the oven.
After talking with BatKat I think I'll cook this batch for 12 hours rather than 15
Time Frames
2130 - oven 0030 - freeze 0230 - oven 0530 - freeze 1230 - oven 1830 - done
Total times 12h oven 9h freezerI let the pan cool enough to transfer the oil to the bowl. Added 4tbsp water to enhance cooling, 2 eggs and mixed well. I added one and a half bags of mix due to the excess lecithin that was added and mixed well. Poured the mix into a greased 8x8 pan and in placed in a preheated 275f oven. I expect them to take close to an hour to cook. Will report on effects as soon as possible

I get 16 ounces of vegetable oil for twenty dollars that makes great brownies. The oil is made from around 2 ounces of trim. It took some time to perfect but a half cup makes 12 brownies. I cook it for a half hour to an hour at 290 or 300.

If you will read this thread on oils You will see that coconut oil is the best oil for cannabis extraction. Cannabis binds best to a saturated fat. Coconut oil has the highest (92%) of any other oil.
These are not my opinions these are simple facts.
To date, my AVB brownies have been almost as strong as my non-vaped weed brownies. Im positive now that I wasn't properly decarbing my herb. Im hoping that this batch is considerably stronger than my last batch of non-vaped weed brownies

Almost 2 hours in and still mainly feel it in my eyes but Im starting to get a lil wobbly when I walk

3 hours in and still climbing. gotta good body high going now
think I should have decarbed for another 15-30 minutes though or gone with 250f rather than 200f and stayed with 30 min
I should be much higher this far into eating them
I ate two, 2gram avb brownies the other week and was MUCH higher 3 hours in

Just look at the label and see what the saturated fat % is
I've been told to not go over 250 during the heating process The original tek by Badkat was a 3h cook @ 250f
The only thing I have modified was the temps and times much longer times with a much lower temp
as soon as I get my method perfected I'm going to use a PC @ 5psi (220f) in place of the oven for a heat source
same pie pan set-up for my oil/herb mix with a paper filter to keep moisture out
I did a dry run w/instant rice and the rice was still dry at the end of a 1 hour cook just set the pie pans on some half-pint jars and add an inch of water to the PC
I'm positive that the added pressure of the PC will aid in extraction I just need to perfect my method then replace the oven with the PC
*********
4h in and still slowly climbing still gotta body high coming on had to use some eye drops earlier

This batch was the strongest non-vaped batch so far.
I believe that the addition of so much lecithin cause the slow increase/decrease in the high. I also think that I should have decarbed a bit longer. They should have been a bit stronger IMO. Im not far from having enough AVB to do another batch of brownies. Will use much less lecithin (2 vs 14 tbsp) and I may use the PC @ 5psi for the last round of heat

Cannabutter = FAIL
Not saying that you wont get high from your canna-butter just that if you use coconut oil instead of butter you will double your potency

and its probably one of the healthiest oils you could ever eat. MUCH healthier than butter and does a much better job at cannabis extraction
win win

There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are not harmful as it happens in case of other vegetables oils. It does not lead to increase in LDL levels. It also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis.

i know about coconut oil. I use it for my hair. To tell me any ingredient put in a pastry wont effect the taste is a bit schitz. Im all for your way, spread the knowledge or whatever, but stop with conceitedness.
smug motherfucker

I just told you ive used coconut oil. I also just told you I'd rather have butter in my brownies, because the tastes differ greatly. Get over it
not even water has a neutral taste
