well i know that light degrades THC. Its good to cure your buds in the dark, and im pretty sure the same goes for drying. Cant u leave all the fans on but just unplug the light?
And from what i've read, the best way to germinate seeds would be using the paper towel method.

As soon as you harvest, the 2 things you want to avoid are light and heat. As Slim said, Light degrades THC so keep them in a dark cool spot.

i dont understand how light could degrade the alkaloids when the light is what grew it? heat on the other hand = bad.

i was wondering what the best way to cure my herb is? someone told me to just trim, hang dry, then put into sealed jars when the stem cracks and air out the jars a few times a day......was that person right or is there a better way to cure?

Heat will destroy your pot. Light from your lamps will not. I've dried a bunch of plants in the same room i was flowering in. As long as the airflow is good and it's not 100 degrees in the grow room, you'll be able to hang some plants in there no problem.

I was under the impression that oxygen combined with direct light and heat were two major factors that decay cannabinoids. Drying should be done in cool, dark places, with lots of airflow (fans). When you cure, you should SEAL your buds in jars from oxygen in dark cool places to protect the THC (let the buds breathe tho).

who said anything about direct light? I didn't tell him to hang his buds underneath his lamp. Neither did i, my buds hung way above the lamp in my grow room. No noticeable difference in potency compared to the buds i was drying in my other closet at the time.
I never mentioned anything about curing or storing it, just answered his main question of drying it.

Sure, but in a 1-2 week time period potency loss will be minute if not nil. Either way, you're right in the fact that when curing you want to keep your buds away from both light and heat.

ooooh ok yeah i get what your saying. So like, just to dry my buds for a week or two (above my lamp) in my grow room would be ok becuase its the "longterm exposure to light" that is the main variable that breaks down THC.
ok cool my bad Coda i didnt mean to question you like that.
