That's a G Major is it's like this.
355333
C major would would be a string lower on the same fret and would be.

I would submit a picture chord but got to go to class. Here's one till I get back.

Typically played with your second finger on the E string and your 3rd finger baring the rest. I usually just play the E string with my thumb though and bar the rest with my first finger.

Close. Chords are typically named for their root note. In the case of the above chord it's an A on the 6th string. Actually looking at that chord I posted it should be 5x5555.
A D9 chord would be x565555.

well I know how to name chords, but in the case of 9 and 7 chords the root note is almost never the key note.
But like I said, I don't play guitar, so half of that is just guessing. lay down a mando chord for me and I'll give it to you in 2 seconds flat

Yeah it's kinda hard to tell from the pic. Either way if you're baring all the strings on the 3rd fret it would be a G.

Yeah perhaps it's different on guitar. I know slash chords aren't named for their root and I'm sure the chords just have multiple names.
I'm far from an expert on this. More just trying to test my knowledge so far.

well you need to write the chords out then cause it really look like the notes you're hitting are 355433 which would be a G major.
