I've just sat through an hours worth of youtube gimp tutorials and then played around with gimp for another half hourt and I still can't do what I want.
All I want to do is cut the logo out of this image so that the background is transparent not white.
I can get as far as making the program auto-select the lettering but it won't do anything after that.
use the magic wand in gimp. select the background and it should show it selected. go to select-> invert and it should now select the text. now right click on the selected text and hit copy. then go to edit->paste as-> new and it should be in a new image with a transparent background
