Options for very limited height?

Somebody Who Isn't Me is interested in growing, has the seeds and the enthusiasm, but lacks a decent grow area.
250w HPS + 3'x3' but the entire height is only about 2.5'
He can LST horizontally but my main concern for him is the heat from the light (even if just 250w) at such close range.
I asked if he would prefer going SOG but he's concerned about having a big number of plants.
What are his options?

Veg for a very short time and as soon as they have a good rooting system then let them go flower...That's about your only option. Using high power CFLs in that setup may be your best choice.

Go ScrOG. If heat is an issue, you should build yourself a cool-tube. Don't forget about ventilation! Humidity can cause your budsticles to mold.

Yea you definitely want a couple of good squirrel cage fans...One to move air in and one to move air out...Read up about CFM and how to calculate to get the right fan for you...
Quote:
CFM (Cubic feet per minute): Measures air velocity. Ventilation or extraction fans are measured in the cfm of air they can move.
