I've grown my 11 days old seedlings in soil with an initial pH of 6.5 and watered them with water with a pH of 8.2. After a couple of days, one of my seedlings stalled in growth, this one was in a very small pot, so my guess is that this happened because the pH buffer in the soil was depleted after a couple of days with pH 8.2 water. Anyhow, I've now got a pH-meter (didn't know the water was that alkaline before yesterday) and I've just watered my plants with pH 6.4 water. I checked the run off water and it ended up 6.4 in one and 6.3 in the other. My question is, does this ensure that the soil is now 6.3-6.4? And if i continue to water with 6.5ich, will the soil end up with that pH, or will I have to measure the pH every time I water to balance it up at 6.5?
I use lemon concentrate to lower the pH, but I see many people here using pH-up/down which I guess they buy in garden stores for a lot of $$$ compared to lemon concentrate(?). Is there any reason to use these specialized products? Is there anything in the lemon concentrate that I might not want to water my plants with perhaps? It contains water, lemon juice and citrus acid - nothing else.
Also, could someone confirm that 6.5 is the pH I want in soil.
This pictures seems to say that 6.5 is the sweet spot, but it seems that if it just gets a little more acidic I'll lose out on P, Ca and Mg. So maybe it's safer to play it at above 6.5 (6.7 perhaps?).

If your using a ph pen they suck anyway and none are accurate to the point. Keep the ph between 6.5 and 7 and you'll be fine.

What if you where just starting the seeds. Is pH 6.0 to low if I plan on putting them in soil eventually.(Should I just use the distilled water I bought from hy-vee without adjusting the pH at all?)
I think I'm just worried becuse the last seeds I started where 3 years old and didn't sprout. I just bought seeds and I keep looking back at my last attempt...
Hydroponic pH requirements are less (more acidic) than what is required for soil grows. 5.5 - 6.1 as illustrated in the picture the OP posted. I don't know what to recommend when it comes to germination. I usually germinate in distilled h20 then ph adjust down to like 5.8 or 6 when I put them in the rockwool cubes. That's what i've done and it's worked fine.
