or does it only vaporize from heat? because water can turn into vapor from pressure or heat... probably a stupid question but oh well haha

Short answer, yes.
Squeeze a nug and it will turn to vapor. I promise.
EDIT: Longer answer, maybe?
Water will boil (and evaporate) in a vacuum, just like any other liquid. As pressure goes down, the boiling point also goes down.
A vaporizer heats up the weed in a partial vacuum so that the THC boils off into a vapor at a lower temp than it would under normal pressure, but I don't know if you could get THC to vaporize without any heat...
