So I'm plannin on keeping up to 3 Bonsai mothers under flouros. I'll be cloning to and flowering in coco coir with cannacoco a/b/pk1314. My main question: should I keep my moms in soil or can I keep them in coir? I may have to go out of town at some point in the mothers' lives, perhaps for a week at a time; will setting up an automated system (lights, drip watering, etc.) be enough to keep plants healthy?
More generally, does anyone have any experience with bonsai moms? I've read what this site has to offer and was hoping for a little personal experience, modifications (like the shallow water culture I saw on icmag), horror stories, whatever.
Yes, that's what I'm basing my measurements on. They use soil in that guide, and I'd like to use coir. However, I know coir needs water every other day or so, while soil can survive longer. Also, with all the buffers, I figure moms in soil would do better if I have to go out of town for a little while.
