Potency with cloning

I have heard that when you take a clone from a mother plant, each generation of clone becomes progressively weaker than the original plant that came from the seed.
I can see how this would make sense, so I'm just wondering if anyone can verify this? Are the drops in potency that noticeable?

Umm... pretty sure that, since a clone is genetically identical, that is untrue.

Or if you're worried about it just make a bonsai mom from the original clone and only take cuttings from her. You can do that indefinitely and it is still a first generation clone.

This is something I have considered in the past. I may do that.

I'm planning on doing it with my first grow and keeping the bonsai in my office under a CFL in my desk lamp.

No there is no drop in potency, Some of the major seed companys have had breeding stock since the early 90's and in Sensi's case since the mid 80's.

It really isn't too true, unless the line succumbs to disease or something. I've read plenty of growers state that they've done it for over twenty years with no diminishing in the genetics.

Consider non-weed cloning.
Seedless grapes, for example. Thompson seedless, still going strong.
