i had a dream last night that i was makeing a BHO and a static charge set it off and blew off my hand.
i was useing a steel pipe of some sort. so after all that mess i woke up.
So im thinkin...again... wouldnt it be smart to ground the pipe? Kinda like a welder does to his bench so he doesnt get shocked
it would be very easy to souder on a piece to hook up an aligator clip with a wire connected to it forced into the ground prong of an outlet
Im not a welder of any sort, but i do know wut static energy can do.
So the question is, would that work?

hmmm....idk.....but i do know that a welder is not the only person that uses grounding to prevent electric shock.....your stove, fridge, and most outlets are grounded in your house

heh, i just used a welder as an example, but like you said, all of your appliances should be grounded.
im big on safety so maybe ill try it

Off topic but a similar process... when you mess inside a PC simply using a piece of wire touching the metal case will expell a static charge.
In fact this is available.... http://www.learningservicesus.com/home/ls1/page_3558_337/anti_static_wrist_band_for_computer_repairs.html
You connect the crocodile clip to your PC case and put the other part round your wrist. It removes the static charge from your body so you don't damage the components.
I'm not electrician, but as long as the resistance of the wire used is less than the resistance of the pipe used any static charge should be removed via the wire.
So yeah, it should work and could just be a life saving idea you've stumbled upon on there.

Thanks for the links johnny, that might be more effective, and much less work.
so now i need to borrow a multimeter to measure resistances of different wires easily attainable at say home depot or wutever, so others can find them and reproduce this with the correct wire.
maybe with enough work and the help of this web-forum to get the word out, i really can save a life or 2
haha 5 leaves for me!
crap... cant do that...

That would ge good if you could run some tests. Let us know the results if/when you do. Great idea though!
