Question on Butane Supercriticality

So, I have seen a few websites talking about Butane Extractions as "THC Extractions Using Supercritical Butane."
All I have ever seen in any of these extraction teks are liquid butane extractions...not supercritical butane extractions
Supercritical fluids are substances that are above the critical temperature and critical pressure...for n-Butane this happens to be 152oC or 305.6oF and 550 psia or 3796 kPa. Supercritical fluids act like liquids but have no real boundary b/w liquid and vapor phase, and can exhibit unique properties in this state.
at standard atmospheric pressure...the boiling point of n-Butane is -.5oC or 31.1oF.
and just for reference...most small air compressors are rated for 150 psi, so i dont think 550 psi is reasonably achievable with PVC pipe...or sections of pipe with small holes drilled into the end.
Now, I know that decaf coffee is made by running the coffee beans through a bath of supercritical CO2 in a pressure vessel...as supercritical carbon dioxide is extremely selective for dissolving and removing most of the caffeine from the coffee beans.
Im wondering if an actual supercritical butane extraction of Marijuana was done, would it do a better job than the already stellar performance of liquid alkane solvents such as butane and hexane.
Any thoughts on this...or is it just someone online using big words without looking it up first?

ok ive waited 25 days for someone with knowledge to hit this thread, and no such luck.
So, maybe i misunderstand a tad... I order to do a supercritical extraction you have to heat it to 152C and pressurize it to 550 psi?
That seems a little impractical. And VERY DANGEROUS!!!
But i do love a challenge. So lemme put on my thinkin cap...
so first off id need to have an internal catch for the liquid so i can seal the container to pressurize. by heating the butane it will boil vigorously, and if enough solvent is injected it should pressurize itself
So the real question is how do you heat up butane without exploding?
any ideas?
BUMP! hah

Nope!
Other then a heating coil? All this sounds way to risky for the normal home chemist, lol. Pretty sure that's why it went 25 days without being hit up.

so it seems like a badly used term then...since all of the butane extractions i have ever seen are just liquid butane extractions...and i have seen a tank of pressurized hydrogen (1800psi) spring a leak...and the friction from the high velocity gas ignited the hydrogen...it was insane...so yea i wouldnt try it with butane...but maybe one day ill try it with CO2...

maybe post this in the shroomery's chemistry forum for a more accurate response.
