except for making hash from kief, Ive only smoked it in amsterdam
the hash spliffs were fucking amazing, get blown for 4 euro
I only started buying them the day before I left....but I enjoyed the high much more than just weed spliffs

What is the buzz from hash like? Is it the same as smoking buds. Or is it a cleaner more uplifting buzz? I always heard that its cleaner feeling. But then I hear that its more couch lock.
Does anyone have personal experience on the matter?

for taste i prefer a nice afghani/morocc indica hash, but for the high a sativa hash is better, but imo any hash is lighter than weed because you're not smoking whatever is in the plant material.

there's an easy-to-follow guide, but I would personally replace the pvc with copper because the butane strips bad stuff from the pvc and you don't want that in your hash

yes, any hardware store should have copper pipe and end caps. Just make sure you have a drill with bits that can go through copper without breaking.

fuck the butane and the bullshit you need to make to extract THC! Go with HEXANE!! Not only can you do the extraction in a regular canning jar, it's more efficient, less dangerous, and you don't have to buy a fuck ton of butane.

how is it more complicated and it actually requires less materials then the butane extraction. No need to build an extraction tube, no need to buy multiple bottles of butane (which if you haven't noticed, are fucking expensive), easier process, less dangerous, and it's a better solvent then butane. Here's the process

5.) Scrape goo, pack in bowl, enjoy.
Plus, if you really really wanted to, there are ways to collect and reuse the hexane.

this is kinda of a late response but if u don't want to fuck w/ the butane or hexane there is alot easier way my cousin from B.C. told me to do it depending on whether your using shake from ur plants or buds you set the shake in a Tupperware container just to were its submerged and let it set for 8 hours buds are 6. strain through a coffee filter then pour out onto a Pyrex pan let alcohol evaporate after you will have a yellow substance on the bottom which is your honey oil. you then get a razor blade and scrape it up, and the best thing I've found to put it on is a piece of aluminum foil. so you waste less

Sorry for the picture quality but until I find my $500 camera it looks like I'll be taking pictures on the macbook.
On the left is 4 grams of marble hash above 2 grams of kief.
Then in the middle we have the last remnants of my stash of nepal temple ball sitting on top of whats supposed to be a gram of bubble hash. Any of you guys ever seen any bubble hash that looked like this?
And then finally on the right are my last few little nugs of atomic haze and juicy fruit.
Anyone got any advice for turning this kief into hash before I wrap it up and stick it in my shoe?

How much crap stash did you use and and how many uses do you think you'll get out of that yield? I've been flirting with the idea of a butane extraction for a while now but I think I'm almost leaning toward attempting a hexane extraction.

I used about 1/2 ounce and 3- 7.8 ounce cans of butane to get that.
No idea on weight, but it only takes a pin head amount per bowl to make any herb stoney. As far as uses per that yield...never kept track, honestly. All my stash and bho are pretty much personal use, so have never had a reason to find weight per use or extraction
I have run the same herb about 3 different times before it starts extracting the plant fats. Just depends on the amount of herb used and amount of butane used. I have used 3 of the 7.8 ounce cans primarily, and typically use an oz of bud/herb per extraction.

I guess what I meant to ask was do you figure that you get more highs out of the extracted oil than you would if you just smoked the half ounce of bud? I've always wondered whether or not it was worth it or just a novelty.

Nice looking Hash!
As far as if its worth it or not, I would say yes. When you have access to alot of "greenery" and it was going to the trash anyways due to lack of quality, I would definatly say yes. Both hashes are basically the same thing, a collection of the trichomes.
Not really sure I would want to smoke the stuff I make bho with anyways. Herb is fairly plentiful and always of excellent quality, so to have a little free (minus the butane) bho is always a plus:). I would prolly not take the only herb I had and turn it into bho though unless I had an abundance

the material i started with was treated very nicely vs street handled weed & contained more trichome heads than broken fragments of trichome. since there are so many heads with a very low contaminates, the material melts.

TNG, your hash is absolutely amazing. Have a favor to ask you. Next time you make a run and make some more, how about making a small tutorial? I'm always personally interested in seeing how others make their own hash, and judging from your pictures, you've got your methods down to a science.

i pretty much just grind the buds with a sweatleaf grinder & dump it over the screen without shaking it around. load a few bowls like that & there is a pile left on the glass under the screen in 3 - 5 bowl loads.
the key to any hash making is to be gentile & start with high quality material.

I love some good hash, but it is a rare treat for me these days.
I wish I had some better pictures, the hash I posted is a little bit travel worn.
Next time I'm in the region (himalayan mountains) I plan to make some hash the traditional way, by walking through fields of ganja and rubbing my hands on the sticky flowers.
Here are some pics of nice charas i've had the pleasure of tasting- not my own pics though
Nepalese "pollen" and True Nepali Charas
Pollen was strong for an hour then bleary fuzziness - no class at all, generic ganja aroma, held together to a degree when pressed in the hand, but made with no care... by contrast the handrub was very fruity strawberry aroma stuff, euphoric and unlike the pollen could be smoked in a chillum with the local charsis who loved it
Malana and Parvati
Parvati is the black piece top, least strong but with a nice terpene taste - left and right Malana chappatis worked into balls (second rub, stongest of the four) - bottom a wonderfully fruity piece of first rub Malana
Kullu Jungli
lemony up high, from near Chandrakani... some burnout, but as strong as any Malana

it tastes great! I've been smoking a lot of it lately. I love love love hash. Probably because i have it so rarely. made a mistake in buying the 1 gallon sized bags. should have gotten the 5 gallon sized.

Its greenhouse ams smokes real nice. I just dry sifted and put the kif in a cigarette wrapper, wrap in paper then place in oven for 5 min then press.

Iso is tough to perfect, but if you get it right it will turn out like that.
The key is only exposing the FROZEN trim to frozen alcohol for 10-20 seconds.
Let us know how you did it, as I can possibly improve slightly on my methods.

lol i did but it was a super long wash also because thicker it is the darker it gets look at the side you can see its actually quite clear.
Here the last of my outdoor crop now

So I have been looking and I cannot find what is considered the highest quality hash. I have been making this QWISO hash and it comes out looking light green and in a fine powder form, like talcum. It smokes good, but looks nothing like these tar balls and BHO I keep seeing. I have yet to try the BHO method, but I always use high quality trim and popcorn buds for my QWISO, nothing without trichomes is used in mine. Which is the better method?
Here is some of my QWISO about to be enjoyed.

It ends up looking just like kif. I've been using the handle side of a fork to scoop it out of the jar, and the jar in the pic is just about spent. I am using 91% iso, soak trim for 30 seconds, shake it vigorously for 30 seconds, strain well and evaporate 24 hours +. I made 2 different pulls this last time and kept them separate. The second pull came out more tan incolor, less green. I don't know if I am butchering this technique or using the worst possible one or what, but the stuff smokes great but just looks nothing like what I have seen pics of.

Yea it is quality trim. No large fan leaves, just frosty bud leaves and popcorn buds.
EDIT: I just went back and read over the method. It recommends using fresh trim, but the first method I used said to use dry trim. I have been letting mine dry thoroughly, then freeze, then use for my QWISO hash. Anybody think this is why mine comes out in powder form?

Well, luckily for me I run a perpetual harvest, so every couple weeks I'm harvesting a plant or two, and subsequently making hash. This time I took the fresh trim to see if it made the difference in consistency. I didn't flash freeze it like I do the dried bud. Also, when I was squeezing the iso out of the filter, a lot of chlorophyll was coming along with it, which I do not experience when I use the dried trim, but it hasn't seemed to come through in the taste. I was afraid this stuff was going to be green, but lo and behold, it came out like all the pics I am used to seeing. I present to you my first tar babies:
This stuff is great to smoke too, so now I have to figure out which I like best. I just smoked some tar on top of a bowl of bud and I am clambaked. The powder form is easier to handle and use, but the tar may have more cannabinoids due to being fresh. Also, I guess the tar could also have more byproducts but I do not know. I encourage other people to try both methods, dry trim and fresh trim, to see which they like best. I think I may keep some of both around...

Yeah I remember where it came from but it wasn't around here. I got it vacuum sealed if you know what I mean. The marble, kief, and especially the bubble were all kind of sub par quality but the Nepalese Temple Ball is the greatest hash I've ever had the pleasure of hacking my lungs out on.
You around these parts as well?

I don't live around there but i'm around there a good bit. That hash just looked way to familiar; kind of sub par, loose, odd color. I.....know a guy who had a good bit of that.
