From what I know about scrog's is that you stop tying them down whenever you hare happy with the coverage. I think a lot of the tie down and shoot placement are just personal preference. They may stretch at unequal rates, but I am not sure what the typical grower does to counteract that. Fix it or leave it. Check out this thread...

Agreed.
But that happy coverage depends on when you flowered them in relation to the screen. I use a very low screen and therefor flower my clones as soon as they hit the dwc buckets. This makes it so I'm usually happy with coverage at about 3 weeks into flower at which point I trim the small scraggly stuff out and let them grow. This has worked out to a nice flat canopy in the past but your results may vary. In general though I wouldn't stop tying until after the end of the stretch period after you induce flower (2-4 weeks depending on strain).

Yes, you keep tying and training until the flowering stretch stops. A good general rule is let the tips of the branches grow 2-4 inches through the screen, once they stretch above this level, pull them back through the screen and move them into the next opening in the screen. Repeat this process until the desired height of your canopy is obtained. This generally takes place about 3-4 weeks after flowering is started and bud/pistil growth then takes off. Any other questions, feel free to ask, or check out my grow journal. It has a lot of scrog information in it if you read through it.
