Strangely, it got taken into a whole 'nother direction and even got awarded with the "Legendary Thread" trademark! What an honor!
To answer your question, everyone but me calls it "shotgunning" or "shotty", but I thought that seems a little violent...("hey babe, can I shotgun your face?"). I mean, isn't a "shotgun" the type of hit from a steam-roller pipe? I think Weed culture needs more creative lingo...
I prefer my very own, made-up term, "A Snoopie Smack", because of 3 reasons: (A) Snoop Dogg smokes A LOT of chronic and is an awesome stoney-rapper (B) It implies kissing directly with "smack" (But NOT 'smack a hoe', because that's demeaning to women) (C) Snoop's has a way with the ladies, so he's probably done this hit-passing many times and (D) its a reference to Scooby Doo cartoons, where maybe people who argue that "Scoobie Snacks" were laced with THC (since it made Scoobie so hungry afterwords).
Take your pick, maybe you can make Snoopie Smack catch on with the entire weed culture, but it is kinda hard to say (the phrase and the phuture)...

Well, I do.
I mean it makes no scents to call it "shotgun":

I see no similarities between them!!
The only thing these things have in common is that smoke comes out of the barrel in real shotguns and smoke is pushed out then into another person's "barrel" in "mouth-to-mouth" hits. And maybe that this so called "shotgunning" occurs in a car, where the driver takes the hit and passes it the receiver in the PASS-enger seat. Other than that, there is no logic to this metaphor! I can't take it anymore!
