Ebb and Flow. A few questions.
    #225806 - 05/13/09 01:28 AM (15 years, 6 months ago)

1: How close to the surface (plant base), do you want the water to come when flooding?

2: How ofter should you flood it?

3: Is there any consensus on the best nuits. for your water solution?

4: Is Co2 a big factor?

5: If you had 4 feet between your system, and your light. How tall would you let it get before you started flowering?

It's so wonderfully steriotypical that the site full of pot heads is the site that everyone is too paranoid to answer any questions. Thanks a lot. I'll just go back to the shroomery where I can actually get some help. You expect this site to take off... How??

1) It doesn't matter much as long as the medium gets throughly saturated, but I wouldn't let it go above the medium. 2"-4" sounds about right as a ballpark on standard 4" net pots.

2) How often you flood is influenced by a lot of factors, not least of which, medium. With something like rockwool you would need to flood far less often than with hydroton.

3) There is absolutely no consensus whatsoever about nutes of any kind. I personally prefer General Hydroponics floranova (not flora) for new growers and Advanced nutrients full line for more experienced growers.

4) I assume you mean CO2 enrichment... As long as you have proper airflow and ventilation, you don't need CO2. In fact it is a totally wasted addition in most gardens in my opinion.

5) With four feet of growing space, I would flip them at one foot. Overgrowth is more responsible for small harvests than undergrowth in my experience. If you flip them at 1 foot they would end up being 2'-3' tall leaving you with plenty of headroom.
