Controlling Water run-off
    #214273 - 04/10/09 12:48 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

If growing in soil pots, what is the best way to control water run-off if over watered, or if flushing with water?

I wouldn't want to end up with a puddled mess on my carpet.

hmmm, even if you dont OVERwater, youll still have a little run off. or should. then you know you have a NICE airy growing medium.

i dont suggest putting plates under them, bcuz they just sit in water then. maybe get some sort of rack. set the plants on it. and set the rack and plants in a shallow tub of some sort.

you know the ones that are only like 6" high or less, and 3' long or more. they kind ppl use for their marthas when growing mushrooms...

Just use thick polyethylene (plastic sheeting). 6mm would work fine. You can find it by the paint supplies in Walmart and by the lumber at Lowes.

This is a common solution to a common problem.

Just use some plastic sheeting or the little plates. I've used em both and it seems to work.
