 Keep in the dark after transplanting? Help newbie pls!

Hello, I am new to the board and new to growing. I have a question:
Should I keep the seedlings in the dark after transplanting? And if so, for how long?
Here is what's going on:
On 4/4 I put 4 seeds in sterilized vermiculite in tiny cups to germinate.
On 4/8 AM they germinated and started to grow real fast. They are already developing the first set of real leaves (after the initial two). They were under the constant light since yesterday morning - (can't believe it was only yesterday - it feels like a week! lol)
Today I finally got decent soil mix and at 9PM replanted them into 4" pots. I am afraid I was not careful enough and may have put too much stress on their roots, which were surprisingly long - already!
I have read somewhere that it is best to keep them in the dark after transplanting, but I can't find that info now. Is it true? How long should I keep them like that?

ive never heard that, therefor never did that, soooo, i would just give them normal vegetative lighting.
why do you think you stressed them?

Thank you for replying. I think I stressed them, because the vermiculite was very loose and broke apart exposing the root, instead of going into the pot in one clump - as I was hoping it would.
About the dark - forgot where I read it - the idea, I think, was that for the root to recover the plant needs to be in the dark, rather than synthesizing. -? I'm not sure about this at all, that's why I'm asking. It sort of makes sense, but what do I know...

i think we're making marijuana weaker by all this.
same with the way we're making humanity weaker with all the "MUST KEEP GERM FREE" shit.
next time Mari. try to scoop the seedling out of its "pony pack" or whatever youre starting seedlings with, with a fork. if you start them in small individual pots, use the flip over trick.
Ive never started in straight vermiculite, so i dont know how easy they break apart. next time mix soil in with the verm. And it doesnt need to be sterilized

This was my first time starting in verm. I did not have good soil around and I don't like paper towel method (goes moldy really fast), so I used verm. I started them in a segment of a clear plastic egg-holder and thought that I'd cut the plastic easily to minimizre the shock of transplanting, but the plastic was really hard and twisted verm. Instead, I should have soaked verm just before, so it would hold better, and simply scooped it with a spoon. Oh well, next time.
I put them in the dark overnight and gave them morning sun and now it's overcast, so they are not photosynthesizing too hard today 
I understand your concern about babying MJ, but it was very hard for me to get these seeds and I don't want to kill them.
I remembered where I read about putting plants in the dark after stressing their roots - I think it was in bonsai mom.

There just seedlings there not shocked. Let them have the light they need, give em good soil and don't feed them the first two weeks and things should be fine if you get them past that point.

i was always under the impression, after you harvest a plant, if you want to rejuvenate them you leave them in complete darkness for 48hrs...

This is already 2 months old, But i wouldn't put them in complete darkness but i would rather leave them in the shade for a day or 2 before giving direct light again.
