Check out what I'm growing. These plants are all around two months old. The poppy plant i started from seed a few months ago. I use a mix of perlite/peat/verm/potting soil (no rocket science just random of how much I use, tried to use 1/4 of each.) and organic plant food I bought ALL of that from LOWES or HOMEDEPOT.
you can fallow that recipe and use your imagination of what other kinds of "vegatable and flowers" you can grow using the same mix!

leme start over by saying i did not mean to put gypsum as the primary nutes i used in that pic. her is a pic of the nutes i use. comes from any nursery, main ingredient is chicken poop among other things i believe. 
works really well. I do use gypsum but not alot, just enough.

my opium poppy. shim got infected by aphids like mad. I tried treatin it with some stuff from the store with no prevail. So i decided to do an experiment to see if the aphids would overpower the poppy or would the morphine kill the aphids.
aphids have no problem eating opiates
trashed the shit out of my poppy plant!!
a couple days ago i sprayed the shit out of them with a hose. seemed to fuck up their game alil bit.
see the white in that head? looks like shes gonna flower anyway!
heres a newbie flower comin
so, next time i plant poppies, i'm investin in some lady bugs!!! they are super cheap and u can get them on line easily.
i still wanna use this method to grow herb
