I've seen where they cut the big fingers in half, you still keep leaf function and your buds get more light, if you trim 10% of leaves per day, till you trimmed 50% of them, then that should help a lot.

If you must trim leaves (which I do not recommend) trim them in one shot. If you cut small bits off the leaves every day the plant will try to repair the damage thus wasting energy.

I'm not trimming at this point. I went with tieing and pulling the limbs down and out. This seems to be working the light back down into the plant. They are responding well. I can't wait to see just how much bud I will get.

I will rarely cut off my large fan leaves when they are blocking the light from reaching other bigger colas. Otherwise, like Oregon said, I think it causes more harm than good.

Today I cut and hung the little ladies, triming the fan leaves off of course.
Wet at this point I have 5 lbs of fans drying. Off all three plants.
The smallest plant is about 2 lbs.
Then one at 5 lbs. And the big girl is 8.5 lbs.
These are wet and still in the pot.
Sorry no pics but my camera is with my little one at her Grandmothers.
I will take pics of the finsh product when it drys in about 10 to 14 days.

Not yet man. It's still curling and all. If I was to guess somewhere around 6 to 7 ozs maybe. Not as much as I hoped, but considering I'm still learning and all that's cool. I think I may have done better with shorter clones when floweriing began really.

i would consider too much nitrogen to be burning the plants

Thats true, but when things are getting that green you get warned by the plants. Burning is not far behind IME.
