In a small personal grow, would you prefer LST or SOG and why? Im looking at trying for a med card soon possibly and i would be allowed 6 plants. 3 sog, 3 lst?

If I had access to med clones I would go SoG. It's just less hassle.

In order to make a sog work out you need short plants that form a single cola; with seeds this would be just about impossible because of genetic variability. With clones you have very uniform plants because, well, they are the SAME plant.
Also, don't forget to look into Scrog (Screen of Green); it combines the optimal light usage of a SoG, and the low plant numbers of LST.

I've always looked at LST and Scrog as one... just one has the addition of a screen. Cause yield for LST and Scrog are about even if done the same time with same plants in theory right?

I would use and LST or SCROG method over SOG if you're limited to plants. SOG is intended to use many small clones in a perpetual cycle to produce bud. These clones produce a small amount per plant, but the fact that you're growing a lot at one time coupled with the fact you're always cycling in fresh plants to bud gives you a decent amount to smoke on. However, if you're limited to three plants in veg and three in flower you really couldn't accomplish this.
With LST you take the time to branch and bush out your plants increasing the number of flowering nodes and increasing the total yield per plant. So, theoretically, you can turn a single plant into three through some extra work and veg time.
SCROG is nice because it affords you an easier chance of producing an even canopy of buds, lets you trim off vegetation that is detracting from your grow more easily, and takes a little work off the LST process for you. However, it has it's downsides as well such as trying to get in and water the plants, working with the screen itself can be a bit tricky the first few times, etc.
But, like i said, if you're a med grower looking to maximize their yields using a small number of plants LST/SCROG > SOG.
Hope this helped!

Hmm I would say scrog over sog any day just because of the # of plants, remember most courts will base the severity of your "crime" on the # of plants in your grow.
And you will want clones for scrog too, it helps out by having shorter spaces between nodes. More nodes on the screen equals more buds and less wasted space.

One thing i have trouble with scrog with tho is deciding what to put threw the screen and such. For some reason, i have such a hard time with plant anatomy...
And also, my thought would be to just trim the crap that wont have bud on it from the scrog so there should technically be NO wasted space!
And one other thing is that i want results. lol... i want bud, and i want it NOW! So how long is the average scrog vegged? And thats what im also curious about... yeild to time spent ratio...

That really depends on how many plants you have and what surface they have to cover. I grow 10 plants on 1 square meter (10 square feet) and veg for 2 weeks, starting from rooted clones, to cover the full screen.
