Need some SCROG advice

Hello all!
I am going to be starting a grow in the near future and I'm trying to work all the details out in my head.
I'll be using two cab's, one for flower and one for veg/mother. I'll be using 250W HPS in the flowering cab (flouros for veg) and I'll be using hydro too, probably DWC.
Now here is my question... I have never done scrog and I'm wondering if I'm going to have problems when it comes time to put the plants in the flowering chamber. As in moving the plants and the SCROG screen.
What do you guys think? Thanks!

Well it is going to be a little bit before it's going, I still have to get the cab's built! But I will definitely post a grow log.
I was just concerned with moving the plants to a different cab... I read some info on modular scrog but that seems like a lot of hassle (having to build the frame and all, i don't have a woodworking shop afterall).
I may just do a SOG..... But am undecided... How many plants per sq ft should I have for SOG? I'll most likely be using 4 SQ ft with a 250W HID.
Any suggestions are welcome!

For SOG or ScrOG you will need all the light you can handle. I have a 4x4ft ScrOG going up with some Alaskan Ice clones. I have 1000w HPS light in there with a carbon scrubber and the light is air-cooled. It will hold 64 plants, I did it before and it worked really nicely with Afghani #1. Hopefully, that ratio of a setup can help u down. By the way its 4 plants p/sqft on mine.

you did 64 plants in a 4x4 area with scrog?
I assume you don't have any pictures of this... just because.

also you're better off vegging for the 2weeks or whatever under your hps as scrog is all about training and timing.

I didn't have them grow out like a normal ScrOg, I just had them grow through the screen for support due to the weight of the nugz.

Ah, 64 plants would be insane to train in a 4x4 area.
Having a net for support doesn't count as SCRoG in my books though :P

nice
I wanna do an outdoor hydro grow but I think my nutrients wouldn't like being heated by the hot sun and I don't have a secure area to outdoor grow where electricity is availible

I am using solar power hopefully, the site is litterally in the middle of nowhere so water is being stored there, also electricity, and composts. I did a outdoor hydro grow this summer but with morning glories and dam, the thing was such a pain in the ass that I will never do hydro outdoors unless in a greenhouse. I my opinion the best tasting weed comes from organic grows that are planted right in the ground.

I highly doubt the plant cares much if it's in a spacious pot or if it's in the ground, the difference in rootmass wouldn't be that much different unless you're working with a sativa.
At least thats what me thinks.

Ok I decided on hydro DWC rubbermaid scrog.
Now I am just unsure on how many plants per sq ft I want to do, it seems anywhere from 1-2 per sq ft would be good, or in my situation (4 sq ft) 4-8 plants.
Any thoughts?

with scrog more plants usually just means a little less veg time 1 per sq ft sounds like plenty.
will you have issues draining and refilling your DWC rubbermaid?

I'll come up with something for that, even if it involves a pump...

well you can't normally completely empty anything with a pump
a drain in the very bottom of the tub would work?

Yes yes, a drain to drain it then the pump to fill it back up... that is IF I can't figure anything else out.
I am already going to try and make a modular moveable scrog setup by putting the scrog screen on some legs and connecting the legs to a base. Then putting the hydro setup inbetween on the base. That way it can be moved from the veg to the flower chamber. My idea is to always have a batch in flower.

you probably wont veg very long so it probably wouldn't be worth setting up a veg area.

I would imagine at least 4 weeks plus a week or so to root the clones, that seems worth putting a cab together with some flouros in it. I also need a place to keep a mother, she will go in the veg cab as well.

fair enough
A lot of people I know who try to have high gr/watt/month output and keep plant numbers down don't train too much and try to go into flowering after 2 weeks of veg from rooted clones... seems to be the best practicle way of optimizing crop effeciency.
