average rate of change for 3-x^2 from x=-1 to x=3
I tried just evaluating them both at x=-1 and x=3 I dont think that is right
when x=-1 the resulting answer is 2
when x=3 the answer is -6
The answer on the answer key is rate of change of -2
Thanks again, I will try to figure out the rest on my own or save them until another day

f(x)=-x^2+3
f'(x)=-2x
f'(-1)=2
f'(3)=-6
(f'(-1)+f'(3))/2=-4/2=-2

all u gotta do is find f(x+h)-f(x)/h at each of the endpoints as h goes to zero
then average the 2 #s
