What to do?

mannnnnnnn, i just got laid off from my new job today.
reason: background check came back a problem for the company.(ymca lifeguard)
charge: intended use of parephanalia from 2004
now i have the choice to appeal it, so i called the person who would give me the info on how to appeal and he was a complete dick. but anyway, he told me i need to write a letter on the offense. and being that its from 2004 i dont even rememeber it. and its kinda burried in my memory underneath about 5 million other charges, but this is the only one he cared about.
this charge has been haunting me lately. its a charge from MO, and i was living in FL recently and went up to visit family in MO for Christmas, not knowing that this charge even existed. well we got pulled over for no turn signal, and i spent Christmas and new years in jail. and now its preventing me from continuing my employment.
im making a big move in June, and im already hurting for $, and now this, so im just searchin for advice...
if you have any Q's please ask me. i think ill post this on the shroomery too.

No, can't say I have. That seems like an awful piddling thing to reject a job applicant for, I must say. Good luck with that. At least you're still living in Hawaii, something which I can only dream about.

there are other places besides YMCA, it just all depends on how determined you are.
i don't think anything good would come of an appeal unless you have a lawyer or some shit. i really don't know, but the YMCA means kids and i can see why a lot of people would look down on a guy with a "drug" charge working there. they would be covering their ass.

Letting go, stripping naked to scream
I am not perfect, nor do I strive to be
I am alive in this world of face-first falls and public breakdowns
I'm a retarded, disfigured clown
Dying to be heard for the simple art of letting this heavy wall finally fall
I'm an equal being of no race or color
A hallucination if you will
Sneaking into the lives of strangers and letting them fall apart
To a new rhythm, just to feel better

thats exactly what it is. i become a liability to the company. if a child drowns even if im not on duty, the Y looks bad for having hired an ex con...
and yeah i hadnt seen my fam in 4 years and went to see them all for Christmas(the majority lives in MO) and we got pulled over for no turn signal a day b4 Christmas eve, and since the whole jail system had better things to do for their Christmas with THEIR families i stayed a few extra days. got out on new years day. missed my flight and everything...:( oh well gotta roll with the punches

i was taken to jail cuz the warrant for failure to appear.
but by the time they decided to prosecute me, i had already been gone for about a year and my mom was getting ready to leave.
the charge was a possession of paraphenalia
we thought they were dropped cuz my mom hired a lawyer to take care of the situation. and it being a missdemeanor i guess we assumed that it was handled. we didnt do a follow up and neither did the lawyer.
so when i went up Christmas 2007, the warrant was still active

Are you already certified for everything for being a lifeguard (cpr, rescue courses, ect)? If you are I would try working for a company that employs lifeguards for neighborhood pools. That shit is way better than working at the fucking YMCA.

yeah i know it is. and yes i have all the certs. and supposedly ymca cert covers all the other certs like redcross/etc.
i was a lifeguard back in the day at a ymca, and then moved to FL and LG'ed on the beach and i was like dude ive been missin out.
so either way im still taking a very recent certification to hawaii with me. so we'll see where it takes me.

Don't sweat it man... when I moved out here all I had was a suitcase, my guitar and 450 dollars in cash. As long as you can start working somewhere ASAP it's enough to get by. There's plenty of fine dining restaurants out here that pay very well for a good busser. I did that for almost a year and I was making like 30-50 bucks a night in tips.
