Altering Plant Color
    #14446 - 04/27/08 10:14 PM (16 years, 6 months ago)

When I was a kid, I use to put picked white flowers in a vase with H2O and food coloring. The flower would suck up the dyed H2O and would take on the color of the food coloring. The plant as well as the flowers would change colors. For example the green stem and leaves would turn turquoise if I added blue dye and the petals would turn blue. Anyone know if this can be done with marijuana by adding dye to the water? Thanks.

why would you want to? Unless you just wanted to hang your plants up and look at them i wouldn't do it (if it even worked). Remember that you do end up smoking your plants once they're done growing.

What about a vegetable based dye? Assuming you found a way to make it work it would at least be organic.

colder temps produce some cool pink and purple colors, usually

Would you drop vegetable dye on top of your bowl and smoke it? Just because it's safe to eat and "organic", does not mean it's safe to smoke.

I want to find out how you turn pot gold! Does anyone know? I think it has something to do with the sun.
I know you get brown weed by throwing it into piles and turning the plants as they dry.

yes. yes it can to some effect and has been done. some people who are in it for the wrong reasons do this as they feel it makes their product look more desireable.

When I was growing an outdoor plant id give it some red food coloring with its water. The only parts on the leaves that would turn red are the spots that would normally turn brown like the damaged areas would show the red dye. Maybe its because it was holding the red colored water in the leaves and didnt show it until it leaked out or something im not sure, but it didnt effectively change the plants color.

This thread was moved from Indoor Soil Cultivation.

Reason:
More appropriate for the main forum since it is a general question not specific to growing in soil.

Nutrient solution doesn't get eaten.

We flush that out before harvest.

The analogy is fine.

Don't do it unless it's going to be very dank, tasty, sticky shit. I don't wanna smoke something that's different colored unless it's damn good.
